Description:
Do you love storytelling? Do you consider yourself an exceptional writer and expert communicator? Are you interested in building strategic marketing and messaging campaigns, developing brands and telling the stories of cities, states and regions? Are you looking for a purpose-driven career that enables you to elevate the lives of people living, traveling and working in destinations across the globe? Then this job is for you!

What you’ll be doing as a Marketing Associate on the Creative Services team at DCI:
You will support the creative services team within DCI’s economic development practice, working on print and digital content (think key messages, brochures, collateral), brand development (including creating logos, taglines and brand concepts), marketing strategies, and virtual and in-person event planning to promote the places we represent as ideal locations for business investment and talent attraction. You will support 5-7 clients at any given point in time and cross-collaborate with colleagues, team leads and managers across both the creative services team and the agency as a whole. You will report to a Senior Account Director on the Creative Services team.

Qualifications:

  • 3-4 years of experience: Previous work at a branding, advertising or marketing agency; or economic development organization, chamber of commerce or destination marketing organization is a strong plus.
  • Exceptional communication skills: You’re a masterful communicator, both internally among colleagues and externally in client-facing situations. You excel at clearly relaying project updates through emails, you have a knack for leading client calls and navigating stakeholder relationships and you’re not intimidated by designing agendas and guiding discussions on video calls with clients and colleagues across time zones.
  • Seasoned writer, editor and proofreader: Strong writing and proofreading skills are essential to your success in this role. You understand how to convey important messages in a concise fashion. You can expertly uncover information through focus groups and desktop research and develop a strategic, attention-grabbing messaging framework. Bonus points for bringing a creative flair that will aid in development of clever copy that can be used across print and online mediums (such as brochures, digital ads and websites).
  • Project management skills and impeccable attention to detail: A fast-paced environment with multiple clients and projects to manage daily sounds like your kind of place. You love being sure every detail is accounted for, are a stickler for timelines and typos, and have impeccable organization skills. You bring experience working in a team environment and can effectively and efficiently manage projects from start to finish.

On the creative services team, you can expect to flex your project management muscles working with clients and designers on marketing collateral projects, building client PowerPoint presentations, managing client workplans and projects and organizing virtual and in-person networking events.

  • Research skills: You are not afraid to go down a rabbit hole to find the answer. You enjoy research – whether it’s finding information on a client destination, coming up to speed on a new industry or promoting DCI’s latest research.
  • Client relations experience: You have a warm, professional demeanor in speaking with clients, partners, colleagues and vendors and enjoy building business relationships. We are in touch with our clients daily and superb client service is a top priority.
  • Go-getter, team player and resourceful: You thrive in an environment that requires constant learning and innovation. You are always willing to dive into something new. When a challenge arises, you use the resources available to find a solution. You keep promises and are a responsive and dependable team player.
  • A passion for places: We have the coolest gig – marketing places to attract visitors, businesses and a talented workforce. You are excited about the possibility of melding your passion for places and your knowledge of marketing to help create an impact for communities and their economies.

BONUS POINTS IF:

  • You have a way with words and enjoy coming up with big new ideas. Our team creates client campaign concepts, creative briefs for graphic designers, messaging/talking points, marketing plans and more.
  • You love being creative.
  • You have an eye for design.
  • You have experience with a project management system such as Wrike, Basecamp or Monday.com; and/or messaging/workspace applications such as Teams.

Additional Requirements

  • BA/BS required
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, Word)
  • Applicants must be U.S. citizens or have all necessary approvals to live/work in the U.S.
  • In light of the CDC's guidelines on safety and vaccinations, DCI requires all final candidates to be vaccinated for the COVID-19 virus as a way to strengthen protection for our staff, our agency, and our clients

Benefits and Perks:

  • Competitive base salary (66k - 75k) with unique “open book” management approach that delivers performance-based incentives
  • Flexible time off
  • Medical, dental and vision coverage
  • Flexible start times and ability to work from home
  • 401k match
  • Monthly cell phone reimbursement
