Job Description:
SUMMARY
Implements the College-wide communications plan for the designated campus/business areas to ensure compliance with College-wide goals and strategic plan.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Implements the College-wide communications plan for the designated campus/ business areas to ensure compliance with College-wide goals and strategic plan
- Develops working relationships with key departments and personnel to promote the College, its programs and services including development of strategic marketing plans to strengthen the assigned campus/business area’s initiatives
- Writes compelling, accurate, conversion driven (or results-oriented) and/or keyword optimized copy for a wide range of mediums
- Manages project development from beginning to end
- Serves as a marketing communications consultant, provides counsel to College constituents on how to best achieve marketing goals
- Develops project briefs and assists Integrated Communications department in meeting its objectives in developing and writing communications, project plans and collateral
- Plans, conceptualizes and executes content for print and electronic newsletters, websites, blogs, media releases and social media postings
- Actively seeks out and writes stories (success, feature, analytical, community-focused, etc.) according to AP Style standards and the College Style guide that will contribute to collateral of the College, such as College magazine, Website, e-newsletters, brochures, etc.
- Assists with media relations strategies, which includes writing news releases
- Serves as the liaison between Integrated Communications department and the Campus President/applicable business area leaders with respect to confidential and sensitive College information and issues
- Advises Campus President/applicable business area leaders on appropriate Communications policies, procedures and marketing trends
- Assists or manages College-wide projects and initiatives (e.g. Convocation, Commencement, etc.).
- Executes production tasks such as vendor quoting and production timelines
- Selects, trains, supervises and evaluates full- and/or part-time student assistants and interns, as needed
- Performs other duties as assigned
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE/TRAINING
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field
- Significant related experience may substitute for education
- Minimum of five years of demonstrated experience in Marketing and/or Public Relations
- Demonstrated experience in journalism or public relations
- Demonstrated accomplishments in publications, production and marketing
- Demonstrated experience making sound decisions that affect a work unit or team
- Demonstrated experience requiring diverse problem-solving methods in a variety of situations
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES
- Possess working knowledge of graphic design, photography and advertising concepts, practices and procedures with the ability to use in varied situations as it pertains to the departmental focus
- Possess knowledge of digital/social media marketing
- Possess knowledge of AP Style Guide
- Ability to develop and implement creative strategic integrated communications plan
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a deadline-driven environment
- Possess strong organizational and time-management skills

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE/TRAINING
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in communications, journalism, marketing or public relations
- Proven communications, journalism, marketing, or public relations project management experience

- Demonstrated education, training, and/or professional certification in digital media
- Possess knowledge of content management systems

- The work is performed in a normal, professional office environment;

However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items such as papers, files, pamphlets, books, etc.;
