As part of the EOS Group, the market leader in industrial additive manufacturing, Advanced Laser Materials (“ALM”) develops new polymer materials for powder bed laser sintering. The Materials Manufacturing Engineer – Polymers will support the development and commercialization of new materials for polymer laser sintering applications with a special emphasis on plastic powder material production processes.
What you will be Doing:
  • Develop work hypothesis, develop experimental plans, and execute experiments to validate value propositions and optimize polymer additive manufacturing powder production processes.
  • Work closely with supply chain and production teams to scale up new products.
  • Be the expert! Conduct literature search and patent monitoring to understand industry and technology trends. Support sales, marketing, and technical service to engage customers positively in solving problems and identifying new opportunities.
  • Leverage manufacturing process experience to support new product development via applying scientific methodologies, project management, and commercial gate review processes.
  • Thoroughly document findings, communicate, and regularly align with the local and global technical R&D teams to maximize development results across our organization.
  • Special projects upon request and any other duties as assigned.
What We are Looking for:
  • A degree in engineering or materials science or relevant experience in material measurement or manufacturing.
  • 1-3 years of work experience with polymer materials, especially powders, is highly desirable
  • Knowledge of laser sintering and other additive manufacturing technologies is preferred
  • Laboratory experience in powder metrology is highly preferred. Experience in material formulation, fabrication, and characterization
  • Knowledge on scientific methodology, project management, and stage gate process
  • Proficient with MS Office – Excel, Word, PowerPoint
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Willingness to travel to Headquarters in Munich, Germany as needed and defined
  • Willingness to travel to other corporate sites as needed.
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently or within a team
  • Ability to work under pressure and to prioritize tasks completing them in a timely manner
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Team spirit with good communication skills both internally and externally.
