Materials Manager Job at Saratoga Surgical Center
Position Summary
Responsibilities include inventorying and replenishing supply levels for all perioperative clinical areas within the facility. The staffing of the Center is based on a teamwork concept. Employees may be cross trained in other clinical areas and may be expected to perform duties other than their normal ones as staffing and patient needs change.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Supervises other materials management staff as needed and assigned by the Clinical Manager.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Promotes the mission, vision, and values of the Center.
- Maintains confidentiality of patient and Center related business.
- Monitors and maintains appropriate levels of perioperative services consignment inventory, including surgical implants and implant log.
- Monitors, rotates, and removes all outdated and overstocked materials; verifies that perioperative services par levels are adjusted accordingly.
- Analyze inventories to determine how to increase inventory turns, reduce waste, or optimize customer service.
- Develop procedures for coordination of supply chain management with other functional areas, including the Business Office and Clinical Department to ensure availability of materials or products.
- Reviews the surgical schedule in advance to verify that proper supplies and equipment are available when needed.
- Verifies that complete patient, perioperative and equipment asset information is recorded accurately for processing depletions. Processes appropriate adjustment transactions to remove from computer inventory.
- Notifies Clinical Manager and/or Administrator of product recalls.
- Takes appropriate actions to provide a high level of service for all customers (physicians, vendor representatives, perioperative personnel, etc.) and to provide prompt responses for emergently needed (STAT) equipment, supplies and instruments.
- Monitors and manages vendor access to the facility and coordinates vendor in-service programs as requested by designated perioperative personnel.
- Implements cost-containment practices by advocating for judicious use of perioperative services materials, performing depletions and reconciling invoice exceptions in a timely manner.
- Assists with goal setting and fiscal management of supply costs. Assist with contract compliance and negotiating pricing for materials and equipment.
- Coordinates loans and returns of perioperative services’ equipment and other materials.
- Maintains records of purchase orders, requisitions, and product literature; verifies vendor invoice is correct and approves for payment; checks in and receives shipments from suppliers ensuring quantities and pricing is correct.
- Compiles reports for data analysis and quality improvement projects relative to perioperative materials management.
- Establishes procedures for conducting and valuing year-end physical inventory.
- Maintains storage areas consistent with fire and safety regulations.
- Regular, physical attendance on a predictable basis is essential to the performance of this job.

Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelors’ degree in Business Administration or related field, preferred.
- Five (5) years of experience in materials control field, preferred.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and medical supplies.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.00 - $24.00 per hour
