We are currently looking for a part time in-person Math Tutor for the Sullivan Louisville Main Campus. The Tutor works under the general direction of the Academic Resource Center Coordinator and works collaboratively with faculty members in order to assist students in improving academic achievement.
Responsibilities of the position include:
- Maintains weekly tutoring hours
- Meets with students to clarify learning problems and work on study skills.
- Session activities may include reviewing class material, discussing the text, predicting test questions, formulating ideas for papers, or working on solutions to problems.
- If students are assigned for tutoring, contacts assigned students within one day of receiving assignment and schedules first session within five business days following first contact.
- Develops workshops and academic support sessions, as assigned.
- Organizes and maintains records regarding tutorial sessions.
- Effectively assesses potential conflicts of interest in working with assigned students; alerts supervisor regarding such conflicts of interest in order to determine best of course of action.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements of the position include:

Ability to maintain concentration and attention to detail while working for extended periods of time.

Proficient knowledge in subject matter of assigned area of tutoring.

Must have patience and a strong desire to help students achieve their goals.

Must be able to sit for extended periods of time.

Must be able to hear and speak well enough to communicate with students, faculty, and staff face to face and via the telephone.
