Mechanical Engineer

Job Summary:

Our client in Auburn Hills, MI is looking for a Mechanical Engineer. This is a contract position.

What You Will Do:

The selected candidate will work closely with other lab support engineers in a team environment within the Transmission Development Lab.

Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Manage overall e-motor and efficiency dyno testing activities, and conduct strategic planning for future testing needs.
• Support root cause analysis of dynamometers and test stands to ensure timely implementation of corrective actions to maximize test cell and test stand efficiency.
• Review and support the integration of new test equipment throughout the lab.
• Provide documentation and reports for tests as specified by product engineering.
• Prepare test schedules to meet program timing objectives and milestones.
• Coordinate facilities and instrumentation needs with the overall Powertrain Test and Analysis organization.
• Champion a culture of safe work practices, particularly when it comes to safely handling high voltage.

Basics:

• Working level experience in engine/powertrain lab testing.
• Experience with high voltage eMotor & electrified powertrains.
• Experience with instrumentation & testing measurements.
• Bachelor’s degree in EE, ME.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in a powertrain testing environment.
• Strong knowledge of test system controls.
• Excellent knowledge of data collection and analysis.
• Profound ability for effective diagnosing and root cause analysis.
• Ability to remain impartial/unbiased/objective in decision making.
• Self-starter with the inherent ability to follow through.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Adapts quickly to new situations and reacts professionally.
• Ability to motivate others in a working environment.
