Mechanical Engineer Job at Eichleay
Are you a passionate Mechanical Engineer seeking to work for a company with diverse projects? We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our team. In this full-time position you will work at our client's location in Blaine, WA. As a member of our team, you will work in a schedule-driven, collaborative environment working closely with our client and reporting into the Team Lead supporting a small projects program. This position will be based onsite a refinery and will have a work schedule of 8 hours a day Monday - Friday.
Compensation: $112,000 - $134,000 *Estimated annual salary may vary based on qualifications and experience. Relocation assistance is available, and this role qualifies for additional pay for approved overtime.

You will work with multi-disciplinary teams of engineers and designers to perform design engineering for projects. As a Mechanical Engineer at Eichleay, your proficiency in process piping and fixed equipment with a basic understanding of rotating equipment is key to your success. In this role you will evaluate, select and adapt standard techniques, procedures and criteria. You may also participate in project meetings, model reviews and interface with other disciplines that are working on the project.
Responsibilities & Expectations:
- Demonstrate awareness and commitment to health, safety and environmental issues. Addresses those issues as necessary to ensure zero harm to all employees, clients, and contractors with zero environmental incidents.
- Assure all mechanical engineering designs meet applicable codes and standards including company standards, API, ASME as well as others used in static and rotating equipment mechanical design and development.
- Perform code calculations for ASME B31.1/B31.3, ASME BPVC Sec I and Sec VIII.
- Prepare both equipment and piping technical specification packages for vendor quotes and bid requests.
- Perform technical bid evaluations and review of vendor drawings.
- Check drawings such as piping isometrics, layouts, section views, pipe support details and other piping specialty items.
- Select welding procedures, NDE, and testing requirements.
- Select coating and insulation systems for equipment and piping.
- Prepare the mechanical portion of construction packages.
- Communicate clearly with Contractors during scope development and installation activities.
- Complete final job walk downs for mechanical acceptance of installed scope and Pre-Startup Safety Reviews.

Requirements:
- BS/MS in Mechanical Engineering and eight or more years of related experience.
- Experience developing and reviewing technical documents and drawings to support the procurement or modification of stationary and rotating equipment including pressure vessels, tanks, separators, filters, heat transfer equipment, pumps and compressors.
- Familiarity with relevant refinery standards, including but not limited to ASME piping and pressure vessel code, various API standards and the NBIC.
- Experience with both design and engineering support of the fabrication of B31.3 process piping. This would include performing basic flexibility analysis, specifying hydrotest requirements, and material and coating selection.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to be badged for process safety management governed facilities, which require in depth drug screening.
- Have or be able to obtain a TWIC in advance of employment.
- Ability to be badged for process safety management governed facilities, which will require pre-hire substance abuse screening and random substance abuse screening thereafter.
Preferred Skills/Abilities:
- Successful background executing projects in a refinery environment.
- Have PE or able to obtain PE in the state of Washington.
Work Environment and Physical Demands:
- Ability to perform site walk downs which may involve climbing stairs and ladders to reach elevated platforms.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, depth perceptions, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Overtime may be necessary as workload dictates. This may include weekdays, weekends and/or holidays.
- Will work at a client’s office, facility or site for an extended period of time, remote work is not an option. When performing work outside Eichleay’s office, appropriate safety training and safety equipment will be provided by Eichleay and/or Client as required.
