Subcontractor duties include but is not limited to the following:
- Perform Constructability Reviews on the project
- Utilize project automation tools
- Implement project Construction Quality Control requirements including inspection and testing of in-process and completed installations
- Assists construction supervision in planning construction methods and procedures. Coordinates engineering or construction problems with superintendents.
- Interprets design engineering drawings and prepares construction working drawings for the use of superintendents as required, including. Temporary construction facilities.
- Creates Field sketches of revisions and additions and coordinating/preparing "as built" drawings.
- Reviews design drawings, study Interference problems and reviewing related vendor drawings and installation instructions.
- Prepares or directs preparation of field bulk material purchase requisitions, including estimating the quantities and material takeoffs of the field purchases of materials.
- Verify/record installed commodities on quantity tracking systems or other computer database programs as required.
- Assists in coordination of vendor material deliveries, storage of materials, expediting and engineering reports related to the schedule.
- Prepares projections and schedules for manpower, material, and equipment requirements.
- Prepares field change notices, extra work orders and back charge notices.
- Reviews project controls documents on progress.
- Prepares cost estimates and reviews project design and engineering bills of materials to ensure their completeness.
- May be required to provide input on employee reviews of assigned subordinate personnel.
- Monitors installation of materials and equipment to assure conformance with drawings and specifications
- Provides technical assistance to the Mechanical/Piping Superintendents and keeps them informed on matters relating to mechanical work.
- Communicates with Design Engineering to understand design requirements and resolve field problems.
- Works closely with other discipline field engineers and coordinate efforts and activities to meet the project requirements.
- Performs quantity take-offs from design drawings as required and provides input into the project quantity tracking system.
- Prepare field design changes for the project
- Reviews the project schedules. Working with Mechanical/Piping Superintendents, develops weekly work schedules as required.
- Inspects mechanical/piping work in progress and prepares appropriate inspection records.
- Witnesses tests and completes final test acceptance records before system turnover.
- Assists the Mechanical/Piping Superintendent in resolving construction issues.
- Determines the scope of any installations not shown on the design drawings, such as temporary Pipe or equipment supports.
- Develops punch lists and work lists of to-go work for use in completing the mechanical/piping installations.
- Perform system/area turnovers including preparation of applicable as built documents and inspection records required by the contract
Experience / Skills:
- Candidate must demonstrate a minimum of 25 years in supporting commercial, federal science, or nuclear engineering projects or other task relevant programs with typically 5 to 10 years supporting projects in a management role.
- Experience developing and implementing Mechanical field engineering programs and processes, including installation and testing means and methods on large capital project, EPC, NQA-1, and commercial quality practice standards preferred
- Experience and working knowledge of national consensus codes and standards related to the respective candidate’s discipline is required. This would include ASME Boiler & Pressure Vessel codes, ASME B31.1 and B31.3, NQA-1, IPC, NFPA, SMACNA
• Experience and working knowledge of developing Mechanical estimates • Experience with Mechanical labor productivity tracking
- Experience in Mechanical work package planning
