JOB SUMMARY
The Medical Administrative Assistant/Float provides clerical support to assigned clinical teams and works Monday - Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm traveling as needed between our Tampa and Riverview, FL locations. The ideal candidate maintains accurate and organized administrative systems to ensure clinic efficiency and timely patient flow. Provides a smooth and pleasant patient experience and assertively assists to keep clinical team's workflow administratively effective.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinates with clinical team to maximize efficiency between clinics, surgeries, meetings, and conference calls and administratively assists to keep Provider on task.
  • Communicates effectively and flexibly responds to changing demands to ensure smooth workflow and continuity of appointments.
  • Triages telephone messages and returns calls to provide prompt answers to patients/physicians/pharmacies/attorneys, etc.
  • Collaborates effectively with coworkers, management, patients, visitors, and physicians to achieve Practice goals.
  • Rooms and initially interviews patients and makes appointment and scheduling adjustments as required.
  • Assists team with medication draws, patient transport via wheelchair, gathering pertinent imaging, and updating electronic patient charts.
  • Performs other non-clinical duties as directed or assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum (1) one year administrative support experience working in a medical office, clinic, hospital, or surgical facility
  • Ability to effectively understand, follow, and communicate oral and written instructions in English. Must read, write, and speak English fluently to ensure clear work-related communication and patient safety
  • Intermediate ability with AllScripts EHR and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Works effectively both independently and as a collaborative team member with a flexible, "make it happen" mindset
  • Delivers superior non-clinical patient care and exceptional customer service, while utilizing professional telephone etiquette and empathetic interpersonal skills
  • Utilizes good judgment, an open mind, analytical thinking, and innovative problem-solving skills to achieve Practice goals
  • Remains calm under pressure and manages time efficiently in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment
  • Outstanding attention to detail, highly accurate written skills, and clear/concise verbal communication skills
  • Exudes a sense of urgency while remaining personable, professional, collaborative, and cooperative
  • Possesses reliable transportation and maintains a valid Florida driver's license, appropriate auto insurance, and driving record in good standing

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Spends prolonged periods walking, standing, and sitting at a desk working on a computer
  • Must be able to safely assist patients into a wheelchair and transport them to their waiting drivers
