Medical Coder I Job at AHMC Healthcare
Overview:
Under the direction of the Coding Supervisor, codes and abstracts inpatient and outpatient hospital medical records under two coding systems, ICD-9-CM and CPT-4, which is used for hospital reimbursement, statistical purposes, and reporting purposes required by different state regulatory agencies.
Responsibilities:
Must currently be working on attaining a Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) certificate or Certified Coding Associate (CCA) certificate. Consistently demonstrates a thorough working knowledge of ICD-9-CM, CPT-4 Medical Coding System and DRG’s at least 98% of the time.
Qualifications:
Prefer Registered Record Administrator, Accredited Record Technician, or Certified Coding Specialist. Non-registered and/or non-accredited Health Record Analyst must have 2 years inpatient coding experience in ICD-9-CM and CPT-4 coding and/or attained a Coding Certificate. Must have good working knowledge of Medical Terminology, ICD-9-CM and CPT-4. Knowledge of DRG’s Medicare billing and reimbursement issues. Accurate data input skills.
