Medical Practice Financial Director CPA Job at Hummingbird Hospice LLC
Hummingbird Hospice is a fast-growing hospice agency based out of San Antonio, Texas. We are seeking a medical Financial Director preferrably experienced in hospice or home health to fulfill our Practice and Financial Management role with the company. This is a hybrid position, in the office Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, and remote Tuesday and Thursday working a minimum of 40 hours weekly. CPA required.

Qualifications
- 5 years of financial management experience in a medical or related field (or other type of healthcare entity as appropriate)
- Required: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field. Master’s degree in Healthcare Administration or a related field a preferred.
- CPA required.
- Ability to provide assistance, analysis, recommendations for improvement, budgeting assistance, and other educational assistance to entity senior management and department directors
- Minimum 2 years of hospice billing/collections experience required. Must be knowledgeable of reimbursement processes and procedures
- Strong understanding of Kinnser/Wellsky and Quickbooks
Responsibilities
The Practice and Financial Director will manage the operations of the practice, overseeing financial reporting and modeling, general accounting with a strong focus on cost accounting, HBH staff compensation, and Human Resources. The Practice and Financial Director will report directly to the Director of Operations and will work closely with the Clinical Leadership Team and the Administrative Directors across the entire organization. The Practice and Financial Director will be expected to work closely with the Director of Operations to understand the strategic direction of the organization and provide high-level, proactive financial expertise and financial modeling of all department, division, and program areas.
- Provide financial and business guidance that will help maximize current resources, and ensure that financial plans, accounting systems, and controls are consistent with and supportive of the department’s strategic direction.
- Monitors insurance reimbursements, prepares and provides monthly estimates and projections to the Director of Operations and Practice Manager.
- Monitors Medicare Hospice CAP and submits monthly reports to the Director of Operations.
- Prepares and submits all required Medicare/Medicaid/insurance financial documentation timely and accurately, including IRS submissions and taxes, CMS 838 Credit Balance Reports, Medicare Cost Reports, etc
- Develop long-range financial models to support the needs of the department.
- Oversee accounting and annual assessment calculations including overhead and expense methodologies. Review monthly RMA invoice expenses and billing data and provide 3–5-year expense trends. Reconcile annual assessment.
- Distribute financial reporting information on a consistent basis (monthly reports) that will provide data, which is valuable, clearly understood, and supports sound decision making.
- Provide financial presentations to Department leadership committees as requested.
- Performs all AP/AR tasks and ensure bills are paid timely, maintaining professional report with vendors. Tracking of all clerical tasks through Quickbooks.
- Assist with non-profit accounting as needed
- Enhance and/or develop, implement, and enforce policies and procedures that will improve overall operations, and effectiveness with strong internal controls.
- Oversee Human Resource Department on compensation, hiring/termination, employee benefits, and employee grievances.
- Motivate staff to perform optimally, manage expectations, and help the practice focus on a team and service-oriented approach to.
- Collaborates with the Director of Nursing and Director of Development to establish fluid communication and best procedures among the entire practice.

Pay: $55,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
