Summary of Position:
The main responsibilities of this position are to support process improvements and cycle time reduction to the production lines via automation while leading new electrical projects and troubleshooting electrical/PLC issues. You will aid maintenance in developing their electrical troubleshooting skills. You will work together with Engineering, Production, and IT departments to provide improvements and troubleshoot existing production lines as well as implement new production lines. The Controls Engineer engages with multiple levels of cross-functional personnel to achieve objectives.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Support manufacturing in troubleshooting automation and controls issues.
- Participate on internal teams to facilitate the development, maintenance, and continuous improvement of factory automation.
- Influence and support the design and implementation of factory automation equipment.
- Facilitate the definition and execution of design verifications and manufacturing control plans.
- Engineer controls and software solutions for manufacturing work cells and assembly lines.
- Collaborate with the IT department to leverage IT supported hardware and network infrastructure for plant wide control systems.
- PLC program development and continuous improvements.
- HMI screen development and continuous improvements.
Knowledge, Skill and Ability:
- Competent in programming PLC’s, specifically Allen Bradley.
- Competent in programming SCADA software, including FactoryTalk and Ignition by Inductive Automation.
- Understanding of high-level programming languages, specifically Python.
- Understanding of databases, specifically SQL.
- Understanding of industrial network infrastructures, including Ethernet and DeviceNet.
- Understanding of machine safety.
- The ability to read and understand electrical and pneumatic schematics. Able to update and create schematics using AutoCAD.
- Exposure to technologies such as RFID, vision systems, and robotics.
- General knowledge of tooling and equipment associated with a manufacturing environment.

Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering Technologies (or equivalent Engineering degree) Preferred.
- Minimum 7 - 10 years relevant work experience.
- Strong proficiency in MS Office applications.
- Strong proficiency in PLC programming and troubleshooting.
- Strong proficiency in HMI and SCADA programming and troubleshooting.
- Knowledge of AutoCAD or equivalent 2D drafting software.
- Knowledge of IT computer fundamentals and network hardware.
- Knowledge of computer control systems used for production and industrial equipment design.
