Position:
Mobile Equipment Mechanic

Reports to: Maintenance Supervisor

Shift: Monday-Friday, 5:00am-1:00pm; weekend, holiday, and evening callouts potential

Pay: $36.38; this is a collective bargaining position.

What you’ll be contributing:


  • Inspects plant mobile equipment for proper operation and performs preventive maintenance and repairs as needed to maintain the working condition of mobile equipment.
  • Performs the following repairs for plant mobile equipment on a routine basis: combustion engines, repairs electrical systems, brakes, air flow systems, hydraulic systems, drive lines, and changes tires.
  • Assists in performing preventive maintenance on and ensuring appropriate fuel in all mobile equipment.
  • Maintains mobile equipment shop cleanliness and performs job cleanup.
  • Orders mobile equipment parts and supplies as needed.
  • Investigates the source and initiate a solution to correct the problem if fugitive dust is generated.
  • Performs clean-up duties in the maintenance shop.
  • Perform and/or schedule maintenance service as needed.


To succeed in this position, you will need:


  • High school graduation or equivalent is required.
  • Related formal education in gas and diesel vehicles, equipment, or machinery desired
  • a valid Class 1 or Class 2 State of Montana commercial driver's license
  • Must have or obtain an air conditioner certificate, Hazmat Endorsement, and Tankers Endorsement, and submit to D.O.T. random drug testing.
  • Two years of related job experience in the maintenance and repair of mobile equipment.
  • Ability to read and understand service manuals, warning labels, instructions, signs, and similar information. Significant knowledge of diesel and gas engines, transmission systems, and hydraulic systems. Ability to troubleshoot and repair mobile equipment. Ability and skill in performing welding and fabrication. Ability to safely and effectively operate cranes, overhead hoists, hand tools, precision instruments, shop tools, jacks, chain hoists, air wrenches, and related equipment.
  • Knowledge and ability to perform preventive maintenance and repair on plant mobile equipment. Knowledge of mechanics and electronics associated with heavy mobile equipment. Ability and qualification to operate plant mobile equipment including trucks, dump trucks, cranes, bobcats, various sizes of heavy capacity loaders, forklifts, and other related heavy equipment in a safe manner. Ability to perform grinding, cutting, welding, and other general mechanical repair activities
  • Must be available to work overtime and odd hours to perform emergency repairs or maintenance on mobile equipment.
  • Willingness to learn, training will be provided


What to expect in a cement environment
:


Work to be performed in a shop environment as well as outdoor exposure throughout the plant. Mild exposure to cement dust, heat, cold, and noise require compliance with specified safety guidelines and procedures. Exposure to high elevations of up to 90 feet in height. Exposure to all weather conditions. Normal operation of mobile equipment may result in jarring and vibratory exposure.
