Title: MVJH VISTA STEM Coordinator
Site Name: Mohave Valley Jr. High
Goal of the Overall VISTA Project: The VISTA will be responsible for designing creating and coordinating the new STEM curriculum. The member will create volunteer opportunities and build sustainability and develop targeted marketing materials. The goal of these efforts is to create a foundation of procedures for the program to continue in perpetuity. The majority of MVJH students are SES and qualify for free and reduced lunch. The poverty that many of our students live with would not typically present opportunities in robotics, interactive software, 3-D printers, and other high technological concepts. Through the efforts of the VISTA our low SES students will be provided with opportunity to develop skills that will be desirable and in demand throughout the 21st century.
VISTA will work with educational program staff to design and coordinate new STEM curriculum or expand existing STEM activities.
VISTA will work with organizational staff to identify and/or recruit students from underrepresented groups for STEM related programs or activities.
