JOB DESCRIPTION

PURPOSE

The Molalla Adult Community Center (MACC) is a non-profit that exists to aid seniors and people with disabilities in maintaining independence through programs and services designed for strengthening overall health and well-being. For 9 years, the Center has been managed by Foothills Community Church and Molalla Area Seniors, Incorporated, a non-religious nonprofit.

The Director is responsible for the daily administration and operation of the Molalla Adult Community Center programs and services. Programs include: transportation, nutrition, recreation, education, health, wellness, social services and volunteer recruitment. Responsible for marketing outreach in the community of Center programs, services, fundraisers, and needs.

REPORTS TO

Receives administration direction and supervision from Foothills Leadership. Receives guidance according to the Country Contract from County’s Contract Specialist.

SUPERVISORY DUTIES

Supervises Molalla Adult Community Center Staff and Volunteers. Supervisory responsibilities encompass training, assigning and reviewing work, evaluating performance, resolving conflict effectively, recommending personnel actions and administering disciplinary actions if needed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Establishes goals, objectives, policies and systems for Adult Center services, programs, and functions in compliance with County Contract, Ride Connection Agreement, Foothills Mission and Staff Agreements, State Rules, City Lease, Elder Board and Molalla Area Seniors Inc. Board.

Plans, Develops, implements, advertises, and supervises department programs. Coordinates contracted services with Area Agency on Aging. Coordinates with vendors to provide a wide variety of optional benefits and programs for users of the Molalla Adult Community Center.

Attends contract-required meetings with Clackamas County and Clackamas County Community College. Serves as liaison with other coordinating agencies, including the Advisory Board, County Programs such as Transportation Reaching People, Senior Companion Program, and Volunteer Connection. Attends Huddles, Department Head, and Leadership meetings as Foothill's leaders ask or require.

Prepares and presents Center functions and programs budget recommendations with the Center’s Financial Manager and to the Operations Manager or whomever Foothills decides. Manages the Senior Center functions and programs to achieve goals within available resources.

Assesses and monitors the efficiency and effectiveness of the Senior Center Programming.

Provides leadership and staff support for all fundraising efforts and promotes fundraisers.

Provides outreach and coordination for special programs, such as: Energy Assistance, health clinics, legal aid, tax preparation, support groups, holiday programs and more.

Prepares press releases, promotional materials and communication pieces regarding the center programs and services offered. Performs public relations presentations to the public, community leaders and service groups. Maintains donor relationships through ongoing communication.

Maintains records and statistics; produces monthly, quarterly and annual reports as required by the County Contract and State requirements or as needed by donors and funders.

Prioritizes projects and seeks grant funding writing and managing grant project through full fruition.

Maintains current information on legislative affairs, statutory changes, case law decisions and new trends relating to programs for the aging.

Monitors compliance with pertinent federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and ordinances; consults FH and/or legal counsel to ensure that policies comply.

Acts in a courteous, respectful and professional manner and maintains a supportive work environment.

Cultivates and maintains internal and external professional relationships to the benefit of the Center. Maintains cooperative working relationships with Center Staff, FH Staff, partnering agencies, and other organizations and to the general public.

Operates general office equipment including a PC, utilizing Microsoft Word, Excel, and senior programming software.

Must maintain clean driving record and be able to drive personal reliable vehicle to client’s homes for Case Management, Meal delivery, and other senior programming needs. Drives to training, meetings, vendors and other FH facilities as job requires throughout the County.

QUALIFICATIONS

Educations and Experience:

Bachelor’s Degree in Social Science, Gerontology, Psychology, Recreation or related field.

Two (2) years of progressively responsible Senior Center, or Senior Living experience with at least one year in a supervisory and/or administrative capacity.

Any satisfactory equivalent combination of experience and training which ensures the ability to perform the work will be considered in lieu of the required education.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Familiarity with social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.

Valid Driver’s License.

Ability to work flexible hours and weekend for fundraisers.

Ability to pass background check and security clearance for access into restricted buildings and departments in County offices.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Considerable knowledge of the principles of management, understanding of issues and problems, associated with aging.

Considerable knowledge of case management, assessment, human relation skills, volunteer recruitment, compliance and supervision.

Considerable knowledge of the principles and methods of day to day management of a Senior Center.

Broad knowledge of social services and gerontology and an ability to plan, develop and implement senior social services and programming.

Considerable knowledge of the facilities and equipment needed for running successful senior programs and activities.

Computer skills at an intermediate level or stronger with Word, Publisher, Outlook, Excel, Zoom, Google Meets, and Social Media.

Skilled abilities to develop strategies to achieve organizational goals and adapt strategies to changing conditions.

Effective interpersonal skills, well-developed group interaction skills, empathy, compassion and a sense of humor.

Ability to relate to diverse population; flexibility to create and adjust programs and services to the changing needs of the community.

Ability to communicate orally before large groups, and communicate written to membership, staff and other professionals.

Ability to plan, organize, direct and evaluate the work of staff performing various functions relating to senior programs.

Ability to work with requests, suggestions and complaints made by Center recipients, the general public, and other employees.

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex documents; respond effectively to sensitive inquiries or complaints; write policies and procedures using original or innovative techniques.

Ability to adapt to changes in the work environment; manage competing demands and deal with frequent change or unexpected events.

Ability to work within the approved program budget; conserve organizational resources; develop and implement cost saving measures.

Ability to establish and maintain positive and cooperative working relationships with City staff other organizations, public officials and the general public.
