POSITION SUMMARY

Under the direction of the Executive Director, this position is responsible for the music and arts program at the Dubuque Dream Center. Organizes all aspects of the music and art program to meet the physical, emotional and social needs of children and families.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Direct, supervise, and teach youth enrichment, music and arts activities to meet the Dubuque Dream Center objectives. Expands D.C. youth programs in accordance with strategic and operating plans. Programs include choir, dance, instruments, and performing arts.
  • Directly supervises school connectors staff and oversight of all music and arts programs.
  • Works on a flexible schedule to provide services to youth and their families in the program including evenings and weekends. Serves as an active supervisor at the center and offsite during performing arts events.
  • Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information and any fundraising activities or special events.
  • Assists in coordinating and teaching performing arts practices, summer day camps and special activities and events. Programs include choir, dance, instruments, and performing arts.
  • Serves as a role model to students and staff and lives the mission, vision and values of the Dream Center. The Dream Center is a Faith-based Christian Organization.
  • Assist in Academic Center to reinforce and enhance youth academic goals.
  • Implement or assist in Character Development Curriculums, that includes Gospel focus.
  • Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community organizations.
  • Leads Worship on designated Sundays.
  • Assist in additional duties as needed and/or assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and/or Experience

Bachelor’s degree in recreation management, early childhood education, public administration, theater or related field preferred. Minimum three (3) years’ experience supervising music and arts program. Ability to personally instruct/teach music and art classes. Associate of Arts Degree and five (5) years’ experience within job field required. Experience in non-profit organization preferred.

Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret documents, instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $45,000.00 - $50,000.00 per year
