JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Network Administrator is responsible for DESC's networks (LAN, WAN and Internet), servers, and end-user computer systems. As a leader in the Network team works with the Network Manager to plan the growth, maintenance and troubleshooting of these systems, and is responsible for the day-to-day administration of these systems. As a senior network position, sets the example for, and helps coordinate the daily workflow of the network group (Computer Technicians, Networking Volunteers and contractors). Strong focus on teamwork while having the ability to prioritize and balance a wide range of tasks is extremely important.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Maintain and improve networks, computers, printers, telephones and security systems so that major systems are reliably available, and downtime is minimal for 24-hour operations. On a rotating basis, ensure after-hours coverage to respond to emergency failures.
  • Responsible for the day-to-day administration, troubleshooting and repair of the agency's computer systems. Set the example for and coordinate the daily workflow of the network group (Computer Technicians, Networking Volunteers and contractors).
  • O365 administration, directly responsible to ensure email is operational and integrated with all internal systems, including archive planning, security policies and license management.
  • With the Network Manager, plan and develop new hardware and services to allow the IS department to serve the growing needs of the agency, working with partnering vendors as needed.
  • Document network systems and services to share knowledge with IS team members. Provide occasional training to team members.
  • In conjunction with other team members, develop documentation and training materials for general agency staff. Conduct formal and informal trainings and provide assistance to agency staff.

  • Maintain and secure passwords, file system security and data integrity for desktop environment.
  • Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in computer or math-related field preferred; equivalent related computer experience may substitute for degree.
  • Three - Five years’ experience in an IT department, preferably in a remote desktop environment.
  • Proficiency with O365 including deployment and administration.
  • Experience with cloud-based applications and environments such as Office/365, Azure, Google Apps or AWS.
  • Experience configuring and maintaining: DNS, IPSec, LDAP, and VLAN’s.
  • Knowledge and experience of infrastructure monitoring solutions to include system monitoring, log management and event analysis.
  • Ability to program and support hosted VOIP telephone infrastructure.
  • Excellent trouble-shooting skills with proven ability to identify and address root cause. Strong time-management, organization and prioritization skills. Highly analytical and detail oriented, with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Possess technical knowledge and coordination & communication skills to organize and participate in complex, agency-wide projects.
  • Ability to work in a team environment required; ability to learn from, teach and train other team members.
  • Ability to lift 20 pounds (moving computers and supplies).
  • Ability to work flexible hours as necessary, including occasional evenings and weekends.
  • Ability to communicate and problem solve with staff from various backgrounds.

preferred qualifications QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Experience working in non-profit housing, health, social service or related setting a plus.
  • Powershell scripting.
  • Experience deploying, maintaining and setting security policies for MS Windows Servers.
  • Ability to maintain and restore data as needed.
