POSITION SUMMARY
Designs, installs, maintains and troubleshoots campus telecommunications systems on a day-to-day basis, provides after hours and emergency support when required. Works closely with a small team of technical professionals to maintain reliable access to network connected services and assists with troubleshooting wired and wireless network connected devices.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Maintain and troubleshoot campus phones, fax, voicemail and all telecommunications.
2. Manage routine moves, adds and changes of phone numbers and voice hardware.
3. Manage 911 and emergency notification.
4. Manage various servers and systems that provide network and phone services.
5. Assist with troubleshooting device connectivity issues on wired and wireless network.
6. Assist with maintaining and troubleshooting campus wired and wireless network equipment.
7. Collaborate on long and short range technology planning.
8. May be required to work with virtualization, cloud infrastructure, network accounts, file storage, printing, IP cameras, remote access, etc. to provide support for other team members.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
There are no supervisory expectations with this position.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED

4. Must have excellent and thorough troubleshooting skills.
5. Must be self-motivated and able to learn new concepts, technology and procedures quickly.
6. Must be willing to work overtime and/or after-hours to respond to calls, alerts or emergencies.
7. Must be able to communicate effectively with all levels of technology users.
8. Advanced knowledge of IP phone technologies and the architecture and function of IP networks.
9. Advanced knowledge of multiple networking protocols.
10. Advanced knowledge of Windows and Linux server platforms.
11. Certifications preferred: A+, Network+, Security+, Cisco CCNP or CCIE, Aruba ACCP/ACMP, Mitel Microsoft.
EDUCATION
Degree in Computer Science, vocational certificate in a relevant field of Information Technology, Data Center Management, Server Administration, or similar experience.**
WORK ENVIRONMENT
When performing the duties of this job, the employee will primarily be in a climate-controlled office environment and will be required to sit, talk, or hear, use repetitive hand motion, handle or feel. There is also occasional work outside of the office (indoor and outdoor) that will require the employee to stand, walk, reach, bend, push, pull, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl and other physical exertion. (Examples of work requiring physical exertion include, but are not limited to, physically handling and/or lifting equipment/objects up to approximately 50 pounds, climbing ladders, pulling wire, kneeling and crawling to make repairs, as well as adjusting and/or installing equipment).
