About the Opportunity

We are hiring an experienced engineer at the Beaver Valley Power Station in Shippingport, PA. The responsibilities of this position include performing mechanical engineering tasks, under general supervision, to support safe plant operations. Assure all engineering analysis and recommendations are prepared in accordance with site procedures, safety analyses, regulatory requirements, and industry standards by applying sound mechanical engineering fundamentals.

Responsibilities

  • Monitoring reactor core operation and performing applicable tests and surveillances.
  • Providing technical advice to the Operations crew for assigned systems.
  • Leading in the development of solutions to system issues in support of plant operations and maintenance during both outage and non-outage periods.
  • Providing leadership for problem solving, decision making, troubleshooting and root cause analysis teams.
  • Trending System parameters and monitoring performance of assigned systems.
  • Preparing technical reports and presentations.
  • Preparing and reviewing procedures for assigned systems and duties.
  • Establishing predictive and preventative maintenance (task and frequency) for assigned systems.
  • Providing support for interface with regulatory and oversight agencies.
  • Performing field walk-downs and interfacing with other groups to resolve emergent and routine plant issues.
  • Identifying, investigating, and correcting problems within the Corrective Action Program.
  • Interfacing with and coordinating activities performed by outside engineering and consulting service companies.
  • Interfacing with customers to identify needs and providing engineering solutions to facilitate operational effectiveness.
  • Supporting fleet initiatives and all reactor sites as assigned by management.
  • Working independently as well as in a team environment.
  • Performing Emergency Response Organization (ERO) duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical or Reactor Engineering preferred)
  • Minimum 5 (five) years engineering experience preferred (Nuclear experience preferred)
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to make formal technical presentations to various management levels.
  • Conduct work assignments with integrity and adherence to high professional standards.
  • Demonstrate dependable, steadfast working behaviors while completing quality, accurate work within established deadlines.
  • Ability to work odd and extended hours based on plant needs.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint. (Software/programming experience preferred)
  • Must reside or relocate within site-specific ERO response time.
