The Henry M. Jackson Foundation for the Advancement of Military Medicine (HJF) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing military medicine. We serve military, medical, academic and government clients by administering, managing and supporting preeminent scientific programs that benefit members of the armed forces and civilians alike. HJF is seeking a Nurse Educator/Instructor on the Practice-Education (Tenure Ineligible) Track with primary teaching responsibility in the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program located in the USUHS, Daniel K. Inouye Graduate School of Nursing (GSN). The scope of the Instructor role includes teaching, clinical site visits with some travel to remote clinical sites and professional disciplines, and accomplishing administrative assignments upon request. All GSN faculty members are expected to show respect for diversity and fairness and comply with published GSN guiding principles. In collaboration with other GSN faculty members, the incumbent would assist in the planning and development of curriculum, develop courses and assume teaching responsibilities to prepare graduate students for advanced clinical and organizational leadership roles.

This position will be in support of the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences Daniel K. Inouye Graduate School of Nursing (GSN) located in Bethesda, MD.. The incumbent works under the direct supervision of the Program Director/Chair to which is assigned by the Dean, GSN and the general direction of the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and the Dean.

• Duties include preparing materials for presentation, providing student supervision, and reviewing student performance.
• Instructors provide significant input into graduate nursing educational programs within their areas of expertise and should be able to present lectures both within and outside areas of expertise and interest.
• Teach/coordinate courses assigned by leadership and program chair.
• Advise, evaluate, mentor and support students in academic, clinical environments, and scholarly endeavors including portfolios and all stages of the DNP project development and dissemination Provide feedback to course coordinators about curriculum revisions.
• Prepare graduate students for advanced clinical, functional and leadership roles.
• Ensure compliance with individual and institutional regulatory, licensure, professional, ethical and accreditation standards while participating in GSN processes to evaluate and improve academic policies
• May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the supervisor. This may include attendance of and participation in required training for role.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• The individual must be a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) or PMHCNS-BC, have an earned a masters or higher in nursing or a related health specialty field, and hold a current nursing license.
• Preferred candidates will show evidence of competency in evidence-based inquiry processes.
• The incumbent must be an advanced practice nurse, have an earned masters or higher in nursing or a related health specialty field, and hold a current nursing license.
• Applicants currently certified in Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing as a Nurse Practitioner or Psychiatric Mental Health Clinical Nurse Specialist will be given priority.
• The successful candidate must have demonstrated effective leadership; set standards of excellence and leadership in professional service; and must have strong interpersonal skills and commitment to graduate education and continued professional development of self and others.

• This position will take place primarily in a office setting.

Education and Experience

• Doctoral Degree in Nursing
• Minimum of 6-8 experience required

• Holds current APRN nursing and RN license
