POSITION PURPOSE:
The Advance Practice Registered Nurse (APRN; also referred to as Nurse Practitioner [NP]) at Medix Infusion will serve as the leader and provider for the infusion suite. The NP will provide direct patient care including (but not limited to) obtaining vital signs, initiating, and maintaining peripheral intravenous (PIV) access for intravenous infusions, administering subcutaneous and intramuscular injections and accurately document patient care. The NP will oversee ancillary clinical team members (medical assistant, licensed vocational nurse, registered nurse) in the suite to ensure safe delivery of care. The NP will ensure prescribed therapies are appropriate prior to administration and ensure all necessary components for safe medication administration have been met including but not limited to lab results, assessment findings.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES, FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Facilitate patient consultation and health history review.
- Ensures prescribed therapy is appropriate for patient.
- Perform physical examinations and screenings when appropriate.
- Review (interpret), order and administer appropriate testing including blood work.
- Provide ongoing care information and educational resources to patients and families.
- Provide direct patient care including but not limited to: obtaining vital signs, PIV insertion, monitoring, and removal, subcutaneous and intramuscular injections, medication administration, peripherally inserted central catheter (PICC) line and midline maintenance care and removal.
- Maintain sterile technique while reconstituting and mixing medications per package insert guidelines.
- Maintains appropriate documentation for all care delivered to patients in the infusion suite including lab results, immunization records and changes in condition.
- Facilitates communication with referring providers regarding patient care, medication administration and tolerance.
- Monitors inventory and receives orders from approved vendors and pharmacies.
- Tracks, orders, and distributes patient specific medications from specialty pharmacy providers. Ensures medications are stored in appropriate environment (shelf versus refrigerator).
- Monitor and clean suite equipment to ensure safe functionality and report concerns when appropriate.
- Participates in company physical inventories per policy.
- Tracks, monitors and performs inventory functions in InfuseFlow including cycle inventory counts.
- Delegate tasks to other personnel in the suite when appropriate.
- Other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
- 4 years minimum experience in nursing field
- Minimum of Masters in Science of Nursing (MSN) required
- Board Certified Family Nurse Practitioner
- Infusion experience preferred
- Ability to build rapport with patients
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong leadership qualities
- Computer proficiency preferred
