Nurse Practitioner or Physician’s Assistant/Associate (Provider)

Job Overview
This is a part-time clinical position (approximately 96 hours per month), with duties on Monday, Wednesday, and Fridays. Protected administrative time will be provided. The Provider is the main practitioner for the clinic, seeing patients independently with remote oversight by the Medical Director. The Provider sees an average of
10-15 patients a day, both scheduled and walk-in, providing both primary and urgent care to pediatric and adult patients. The job requires working effectively with volunteer physicians, the clinic team, and executive director to assure the mission, vision, goals, budget, and performance standards for the clinic are met. The Provider is actively involved in direct medical care, education, and interpersonal support of patients who attend the clinic, and participates in the review and development of specific policies, procedures, and practice guidelines at the discretion of clinic leadership.

Responsibilities and Duties

● Obtain and record a detailed record of each patient, including but not limited to, the patient’s chief complaint, their present condition, the patient’s medical, surgical, social, and history

● Perform physical examinations of each patient as reasonably necessary to evaluate various primary and urgent care conditions

● Analyze reports and/or findings of tests and personal examinations to assess the condition of the patient, including diagnosing his/her injury or illness and formulating a prognosis

● Effectively communicate with patients and other health care staff to manage patient care

● Refer the patient to a specialist and other health care providers, when and if needed

● Prescribe medication or treatment plans

● Perform such clinical procedures as are consistent with the Provider’s training

● Keep and maintain appropriate records relating to all professional services rendered

● Use electronic medical records systems

● Demonstrate integrity, care, and compassion when working with patients, families, and staff

● Maintain the privacy of all patient information, and accesses such information only on a need-to-know basis for clinical purposes

● Comply with all regulations regarding corporate integrity and security obligations. Report unethical, fraudulent, or unlawful behavior or activity

● Maintain confidentiality of the organization by ensuring that information is accessible only to those authorized to have access, and is protected throughout its lifecycle

● Perform other duties assigned by Employer from time to time that is commensurate with professional services normally and customarily performed by a primary care provider

Qualifications

● Current unencumbered State of Tennessee Medical Practitioner License

● Current and unrestricted DEA license

● The ideal candidate:

● Demonstrates multi-cultural sensitivity and experience or interest in working with underserved communities

● Is able to interact with a variety of people, with a wide understanding of culture, beliefs, and economic levels

● Has experience with Electronic Medical Record systems

● Is able to work without direct supervision and practice with remote backup as needed

● Can work in a fast-paced environment

● Is able to work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals as needed, and the ability to lead care in the clinic

Education and Experience Required

● Master’s Degree in Nursing or Master’s Degree of Medical Science in P.A. Studies
● Currently licensed in the State of Tennessee as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician’s
