Position Description

The Nurse Practitioner, Psychiatric will to work in collaboration with providers and other Nurse Practitioners. This position assumes responsibility and accountability for the medical care provided to HONOR COMMUNITY HEALTH clients during clinic visits and on call as assigned. Services are provided at all clinic sites and on assignment and on occasion at local community health fairs. Works closely with the Clinical Director, Chief Operating Officer, Medical Director and Site Managers to monitor standards of clinical care and to evaluate patient satisfaction and outcomes of care.

This position reports to the Associate Chief Medical Officer. Please note that this is a TEMPORARY position.

Responsibilities


  • Evaluates and diagnoses HONOR COMMUNITY HEALTH patients.
  • Completes examinations of assigned patients including mental status examinations, as indicated.
  • Treats psychiatric illnesses of patients.
  • Consults with psychiatrists, medical providers, patients, their families, other medical professionals, and appropriate professional personnel to interpret clinical findings when necessary.
  • Prescribes medications for the treatment of psychiatric disorders.
  • Reviews, updates and approves treatment plans and treatment authorizations.
  • Documents and participates in patient discharge planning/summaries.
  • Performs clinical screening and referral of psychiatric/substance abuse conditions in need of consultation from medical, non-psychiatric specialties, including primary care physicians.
  • Complies with all confidentiality requirements, which are mandated by law and apply to all staff, including volunteers.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

What are we looking for?

  • Master’s degree in nursing from an accredited program.
  • Graduate of an accredited school of Advance Nurse Practice.
  • Board Certified and must hold a License in Nursing by the State of Michigan.
  • Current registration/license in Nursing by the State of Michigan, and must have prescriptive authority including DEA licensure by the state of Michigan.
  • Must maintain ACLS Certification through the American Heart Association
  • One or two years of experience treating patients with mental health and substance abuse issues.
