The vision of Bethel United Church of Christ is to be united in seeking God’s will and serving all people. The Nursery Worker helps Bethel carry out that vision by extending a primary invitation of welcome and hospitality to visitors, guests, and members.

Qualifications

The Nursery Worker must be an individual capable of working with volunteer(s) to create a safe, clean, and interactive environment for infants and toddlers during Sunday School, worship services, and any congregational events that require nursery services, e.g., congregational meetings and church picnics. This person is expected to work three (3) hours per week – Sunday mornings, 8:45-11:45 a.m. If the Nursery Worker cannot work on a particular Sunday, she/he will provide the Program Associate with at least two weeks’ notice. In cases of illness and/or emergency, it is expected that the Nursery Worker will contact their supervisor as soon as possible. The Nursery Worker is paid for actual hours worked.

Components

A. Places children as the first priority, caring for their health and safety while under their care.

B. Actively supervises and interacts with children entrusted to their care at all times.

C. Ensure the nursery is clean, open, and ready for children on Sundays by 8:45 a.m.

D. Greet parents and guardians and their children as they come into the nursery.

E. Make sure each child brought into the nursery has an information form filled out and signed by the parent(s)/guardian(s) on file.

F. Sign in each child and obtain a phone/text number on the sign-in sheet by which the child’s parent/guardian can be reached while the child is in the nursery.

G. Sign out each child to the appropriate parent/guardian as the child leaves the nursery.

H. Once all children are gone from the nursery, close and clean the nursery, clean and organize any toys or supplies used, and make the nursery ready for its next use.

I. Notify the Program Associate of any new children and/or families that have attended by providing the Program Associate with a copy of the information form(s).

J. Report any noteworthy situations or emergencies to the Program Associate.

K. Miscellaneous other duties commensurate with the capabilities of the Nursery Worker.

Requirements

A. Has passed required background checks.

B. Maintains Infant & child CPR certifications.

C. Has reviewed and certifies their understanding and compliance with the Personnel Policies, Confidentiality Agreement, Credit Card policy, W-4, I-9, and Direct Deposit authorization of Bethel United Church of Christ.

D. Must abide by the Children and Youth Protection Policies and Procedures and all other Bethel UCC policies in place.

E. Actively work to create a safe place for youth and vulnerable adults by being involved in abuse risk management.

Program Associate and Lead Pastor.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $16.67 per hour

Schedule:

  • Weekend availability
  • Weekends only

Ability to commute/relocate:

  • Evansville, IN 47715: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)

Experience:

  • Teaching: 1 year (Preferred)
  • Childcare: 1 year (Preferred)

License/Certification:

  • Child Development Associate Certification (Preferred)
