Nutrition Coordinator Job at Child Start, Inc.
Coordinates meal service for 0-5 sites in accordance with USDA, State of Kansas, Department of Education, Department of Health and Human Services, Office of Head Start, state, county, local and agency guidelines. Supervises Health Clerk(s). Assists with contract negotiations for food, supplies, services and equipment. Maintains documentation and ensures accuracy and consistency of all nutrition-related Program Information Report data. Ensures CACFP compliance in all areas of nutrition. Provides Nutrition training to 0-5 sites, staff and parents. Serves as an advisor for teachers on nutrition related activities and monitors classrooms. Serves as a Child Start Head Start 0-5 Program representative on assigned committees. Regular attendance is an essential function of the position.
- Create age-appropriate monthly menus following KDHE, CACFP and performance standard requirements.
- Assists with contract negotiation for the purchase of food, supplies, services and equipment needed for operation, as needed.
- Ensures program CACFP compliance and files all required reports in a timely manner.
- Responsible for reviewing files of all referred to Nutrition department, to find possible food allergies and other dietary substitutions.
- Coordinates all food substitution menus and meal plans with parents, staff and vendors
- Monitors food expenses
- Performs semi-annual classroom monitoring for safe nutrition practices and compliance with Head Start Performance Standards
- Supervises and meets regularly with Health Clerk(s) for Reflective Supervision and support.
- Provides training for 0-5 sites, staff and partners on food handling, sanitation and areas concerning nutrition.
Requirements
- Associate Degree (A.A) in Nutrition, Administration, or hotel/restaurant management and/or specialized training or certification.
- Requires two years of related experience.
- Requires working knowledge of specialized practices, equipment, and procedures.
- Candidates must be able to:
- Demonstrate positive leadership in supervising and building strong teams to coordinate health services
- Utilize critical thinking skills in evaluating/monitoring services
- Exhibit good problem solving skills and is solution driven to meet participant and staff needs
- Demonstrate strong oral and written skills
- Evaluate/develop/provide health training to agency staff
- Show proficiency in utilizing Word, Excel, PowerPoint software and working with data base systems
Benefits
