The salary listed on this job posting is the starting salary range; amount offered will depend upon qualifications.

Direct report of WIC Clinic Supervisor, follows WIC policies and procedures to determine eligibility for the WIC program and provides Value Enhanced Nutrition Assessment (VENA) to eligible participants. Provides nutrition counseling, lab assessments, and determinations for the disbursement of benefits. Support and promote a culture of breastfeeding. Utilize the Power of Influence (P.O.I.) principles when providing WIC services.

Essential Functions

1 Determines WIC Program eligibility based on interview and assessment of WIC Program nutritional risk criteria, including health history, growth patterns, iron status, weight gain patterns, and dietary adequacy.
2 Provides Value Enhanced Nutrition Assessment for low and moderate risk WIC participants.
3 Determines the appropriate WIC food package for WIC participants.
4 Guides the participant’s choice for their next WIC nutrition education activity.
5 Approves the issuance of non-contract formula to WIC participants.
6 Teaches WIC group nutrition education classes as necessary. Supports women during a normal breastfeeding experience.
7 Identify breastfeeding experiences that are not the norm and make an immediate, referral to the International Board Certified Lactation consultant. (IBCLC).
8 Refer WIC participants to appropriate health care provider and documents follow-up.
9 Issues breastfeeding equipment (electric breast pumps, manual breast pumps) and aids (nursing pads, large flanges) according to policies.
10 Uses positive customer service skills to resolve internal participant conflicts and complaints.
11 Performs other clinic duties, including lab, income, benefits (EBT) and receptionist as necessary in the absence of other team members.
12 Acts as Supervisor in the absence of the Supervisor and makes decisions necessary to facilitate clinic operations.
13 Communicates effectively, uses time management skills and meets deadlines, including checking e-mails daily and entering time daily into Workday.
14 Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications

Education
Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 12 hours in food and nutrition and 6 hours in life sciences. (Required)

AND


Experience
2 years of experience as a Dietitian or in a nutritional setting. (Required)

Licenses and Certifications
State of Texas Driver's License. (Required)

Special Requirements (Required)

1. Availability to work some evenings and Saturdays.
2. Must comply with WIC state policies regarding immunizations.
3. Successful completion of WIC Nutrition modules during probation.
4. Successfully completes the LA Breastfeeding promotion training, as assigned.

Flexibility in Work Location (Required)
NOTE: The City of Dallas WIC Program serves Dallas County and operates 16 clinics countywide and 1 Specialty Clinic-Lactation Care Center. Work locations are not permanent and change frequently; therefore, flexibility in work location is required.

Bilingual Language Proficiency-English and Spanish
Ability to speak, read, and write in English and Spanish languages with professional proficiency (Preferred)
