ESH furnishes many services that provide the tools for a healthy and safe environment for the University Community. ESH serves the University Community by providing technical support, informational training, consultation and periodic audits of environmental health and safety practices, as well as regulatory compliance.

Position Overview:

The Occupation Safety and Health Specialist will help develop, implement and improve and occupational safety programs for UMBC.

Responsibilities:

The Occupation Safety and Health Specialist will help develop, implement and improve occupational safety programs for the campus community to foster a safe work environment. This position will also assist with the development and implementation of other ESH programs to promote environmental safety, safe work practices and compliance with regulations and requirements of local, state and federal oversight.



Required Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field (i.e. Occupational Safety, Safety Management, Environmental Engineering, Industrial Health, Health Physics, Chemistry, Biology, etc.).

Three years of progressive experience implementing occupational safety and/or industrial hygiene programs.

Offers of employment may be contingent on applicant obtaining medical clearance by university approved medical staff.

Employee will be personally responsible for following health and safety guidelines/instructions. This position may, at times, require the employee to work with or be in potentially hazardous areas.



Preferred Qualifications:

A Master's Degree and additional professional certification is preferred.
