SITE OF SERVICE:

• Naval Medical Center Portsmouth, VA (NMCP) and its associated Branch Health/Medical Clinics (BHC) and Tricare Prime Clinics (TPC).
• Full Time.

POSITION QUALIFICATION/REQUIREMENTS:

• Degree: Doctor of Optometry.
• Education: Graduate from a school or college approved by the Accreditation Council on Optometric Education (ACOE) of the American Optometric Association.
• Certifications: Possess a certification to use Therapeutic Pharmaceutical Agents.
• Additional Certifications: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) hands on certification through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
• Experience: Possess a minimum of one (1) year full-time experience fitting specialty lenses for keratoconus within the preceding eighteen (18) months.
• Licensure: Possess a current and unrestricted license to practice as an Optometrist in any one of the 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico or the U.S. Virgin Island.
• U.S. Citizenship: Shall be a U.S. citizen.
• English Language Requirement: Able to read, write, and speak English well enough to effectively communicate.
• Physical Capability: Shall be physically capable of standing and/or sitting for extended periods of time and physically capable of performing all services required.

HOURS:

• Optometrist (BHC NAVSTA Norfolk) – Services shall be provided Monday through Friday, between the hours of 0700 and 1600 hours. Shifts will normally be scheduled for an eight and half (8.5) hour period, to include an uncompensated thirty (30) minute lunch break. In no instance will services be required in excess of eighty (80) hours per two-week period. The clinic is open on the following Federal Holidays: Martin Luther King Jr's Birthday, President's Day, Columbus Day, and Veteran's Day. Services shall not be required on federal holidays when the clinic is open.
• Optometrist (BHC Boone) – Services shall be provided Monday through Friday, between the hours of 0600 and 1800. Shifts will normally be scheduled for an eight and half (8.5) to nine (9) hour period, to include an uncompensated thirty (30) minute to sixty (60) minute lunch break, respectively. In no instance will services be provided in excess of eighty (80) hours per two-week period. The clinic is open on the following Federal Holidays: Martin Luther King Jr's Birthday, President's Day, Columbus Day, and Veteran's Day. Services shall not be required on federal holidays when the clinic is open.
• Optometrist (1 FTE, BHC Oceana & Dam Neck (shared site) – Services shall be provided Monday through Friday, between the hours of 0700 and 1900. Shifts will normally be scheduled for an eight and half (8.5) to nine (9) hour period, to include an uncompensated thirty (30) minute to sixty (60) minute lunch break, respectively. In no instance will services be provided in excess of eighty (80) hours per two-week period. Services shall not be required on federal holidays when the clinic is open.
