Program Description
Edgewood Center for Children and Families’ provides behavioral health services to youth and families struggling with mental illness, learning disabilities, and debilitating behavioral issues in San Mateo county. Edgewood uses a holistic and individualized approach to behavioral health, promoting well-being by enhancing behavior and relationships in all aspects of life – physical and mental health, sobriety and recovery, family interactions, and social and life skills.
Position Description
The Outreach Coordinator (OC) is responsible for the San Mateo Region’s multifaceted community-based programs which includes the TAY Drop-In Center, Kinship Support Network, and the various Full Service Partnership programs: C/Y-Turning Point, SAYFE, and TAY-FSP. The OC will build new and maintain existing relationships with community groups and organizations, and coordinate and attend outreach activities that will enhance participant engagement. The OC is also responsible for the planning and coordination of specific community events – health fairs, back to school fairs, educational workshops, and conferences. The OC works in collaboration with regional program managers on identifying and staffing summer and fall community tabling events, including annual summer/fall events.

Essential Functions
  • Coordinate and execute logistics, vendor relationships, donations, and staffing for regional events including Back to School Fairs, Health Fairs, and Career Fairs
  • Manage all required paperwork ensuring documentation and correspondences are timely, professionally written and organized, and meeting all Agency and San Mateo County guidelines.
  • Works with supervisor to ensure the region meets all funding requirements related to outreach and community engagement
  • Attend and represent Edgewood San Mateo regional programs at pre-scheduled outreach events and activities.
  • Maintain current community outreach efforts, track all outreach activities, and create and implement strategies to enhance current outreach plan.
  • Provide support to program staff involved in outreach efforts across the county.
  • Organize, attend and present at organization, foundation, educational institutions, and community meetings regarding regional programs, its impacts, and community needs.
  • Consistently and effectively collaborate, communicate and consult with colleagues, supervisor and community partners.
  • Foster relationships with non-profits, schools (college, high school, and vocational programs), local businesses, and community groups/clubs, and other program specific programs, collecting an maintaining resources.
  • Schedule external and internal site visits with interested parties. Create content for virtual presentations of the DIC
  • Oversight of social media platforms, including managing content and content schedule, monitoring and responding to content and external messaging, marketing content
  • In collaboration with regional program managers, maintain strong line of communication with Edgewood’s Advancement Team, oversight of in-kind donations.
  • Providing staffing support and leadership at both DIC locations, as needed.
  • Work in collaboration with bi-lingual, Spanish speaking staff to develop culturally competent outreach materials.
  • Order and maintain outreach materials and giveaways for the regional programs.
  • Attend and actively participate in supervision; enlists support, requests and integrates feedback.
  • Collaborate and communicate with internal and external stakeholders, in a manner that promotes agency mission, vision, and values; agency, region, and area goals; consumer and family satisfaction; and highest quality care.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Applied Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred.
  • Bachelor’s Degree Preferred or equivalent experience and skill set
  • Experience in community outreach and engagement and/or presentations to diverse audiences.
  • Maintain positive work relationships in a respectful and collaborative manner.
  • Familiarity with at-risk, disenfranchised, and/or marginalized populations.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated experience building community relationships.
  • Must possess strong leadership qualities: strengths-based, time management, organization, ability to coordinate and motivate others, team work and facilitation of a team environment.
  • Must be an entrepreneurial self-starter who learns quickly and follows through on tasks.
  • Ability to work evenings and select Saturdays.
  • Must have a dependable vehicle, valid California driver’s license, and proof of insurance.
The hourly rate range for this position starts at $25.50 and with transcript and language differentials ends at $30.65
