The Packing / Shipping Associate delivers world-class service by expertly boxing and packaging the customer's products, receiving, and processing packages for shipment providing telephone support to customers, and operating point-of-sale devices to complete the customer's transaction. The Packing / Shipping Associate expertly advises our valued customers by providing accurate information on our array of products, services, and best-value options and exhibits confidence by knowing best practices related to the industry.

The ideal candidate has previous shipping experience, strong computer and internet skills, a friendly and genuinely helpful demeanor, and a professional appearance. He or she must be a fast learner who makes an effort to learn all aspects of the business in the shortest possible time. In addition, the ideal candidate must be willing and able to work a very flexible, schedule that includes weekends.

Compensation starting at $35,000 + based on skills and experience.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Continuously practices good listening skills with customers, UPS Store associates, and leadership
• Takes ownership of the customer's shipping needs and offers viable solutions
• Helps customers with expert boxing and packaging, selling the appropriate products to ship materials safely and efficiently
• Takes action to learn all products, service offerings, alternative solutions, and industry trends
• Safe handling of objects, using appropriate methods of packaging, loading, and securing property for safe transport and storage.
• Delivers outstanding customer service to walk-in customers and telephone inquiries as needed
• Ability to accurately execute detailed paperwork and condition reporting
• Helps with other retail store functions as needed, such as assisting customers with faxing, copying, laminating, and binding
• Maintains a clean and safe working environment, performs general cleaning as needed
• Pack artwork, antiquities, and fine furniture for transportation and or storage
• Ensure all items are packed proficiently to reduce the risk of breakages at all times

QUALIFICATIONS

• 2+ years of experience in a similar role or related field
• High school diploma or GED required
• Able to help customers with boxing and packaging of their items
• Working knowledge of and experience with careful packing methods and safe moving practices
• Excellent communication and people skills
• Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office and Adobe Suites
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Able to operate a wide variety of business equipment
• Prompt, reliable, and responsible. Consistent and punctual attendance required.
• Ability to safely lift 70 pounds and maneuver objects of substantial size and weight, on a daily basis, without damage to object or person
• Ability to stand, walk, squat, bend, kneel, crouch, twist and reach overhead
• Willing and able to work a very flexible schedule including weekends
