Job summary: Ensures that all products receive a uniform and complete coating of paint as specified by the customer’s contract specifications Perform such work consistent with the company mission and values and produces a product that meets recognized standards and customer expectations by maintaining Quality and Safety procedures. This is a safety-sensitive position. A safety-sensitive position has been defined as one where the employee's responsibilities impact the health and safety of themselves, coworkers and/or the public (in this case the end-user of our product). All production and production support positions fall into this category.

PREREQUISITES:

• Ability to pass pre-employment physical and drug screening test
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions in written, oral, or diagram form.
• Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages and fractions
• Regular, reliable and punctual attendance with the ability to work overtime and weekends
• Posesses strong sense of urgency
• Can work independently and/or as a cooperative team player
• Willingly takes direction from supervisory and lead personnel
• Adheres to quality procedures and demonstrates strong safety awareness and prevention

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Ability to meet all NACE standards and requirements without supervision.
• Read painting requirements from blueprints.
• Hooks up loads using hoisting attachments and moves product into position for painting.
• Ability to spray paint and mix various types of coatings to the millage requirements specified by the customer’s contract specifications.
• Prepares paint pumps for daily, replaces hoses and maintain equipment
• Produce a product that meets recognized standards and customer expectations by maintaining quality procedures.
• Ability to hand blast.
• Must meet all qualifications of shot blaster position.
• Must be forklift certified or capable of aquiring forklift certification.
• Maintains a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in an effective manner with customers, co-workers, clients and supervisors.
• Must be familiar with Global Harmonized Systems (GHS), Safety Data Sheets and labeling requirements.
• Must be trained to execute spill response procedures.
• Must understand proper handling practices for hazardous materials and waste.
• Maintains a positive work atmosphere by functioning and communicating in an effective manner with customers, co-workers, clients and supervisors
• Performs daily cleaning and maintenance of area and equipment
• Works in a safe and conscientious manner
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned by supervisor including but not limited to, cleaning, trash/scrap removal, and other production related task

In addition to the above – to meet the qualifications of the A Class Painter, you must be able to:

• Support the Crystal Steel Lean Initiative through active engagement and participation in continuous process improvement projects based in Lean Manufacturing Principles
• Assist in the collection of data, participate in RIE workshops and contribute to the implementation of solutions, replicate successful improvements, share lessons learned and provide feedback on opportunities for change that will further the continuous improvement process.

• Produce a finished product that meets recognized standards, codes, and customer expectations by following quality procedures
• Able to identify potential hazards and make necessary corrections.
