Paralegal III Job at KATMAI
SUMMARY
Provides support to attorneys. Under the direction of an attorney, resolves routine legal issues. Researches and analyzes law sources such as statutes, recorded judicial decisions, legal articles, treaties, constitutions, and legal codes to prepare legal documents, such as briefs, pleadings, appeals, contracts, etc. Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conducts legal research and assists AUSAs with the drafting of various legal documents and briefs.
- Organizes case-related documents for attorney review, discovery and trial preparation.
- Assists attorneys and legal support staff in the production of trial notebooks and/or demonstrative exhibits for trial.
- Maintains regular and punctual attendance.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's Degree in related discipline or Paralegal certification. In lieu of degree, relevant work experience may be substituted on a year for year basis.
- 5 to 8 years relevant experience required.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship required).
SPECIAL SKILLS
- Requires sound judgment, tact, discretion and initiative.
- Wide degree of creativity and latitude is required.
- Strong familiarity with Microsoft Office 7 (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook) WordPerfect, Adobe and legal tracking software.
- Confidential data and information management experience required.
- Strong familiarity with government regulations and directives pertaining to security, confidentiality, and document retention.
Compensation and Benefits package:
- Pay is: $31.20/hr
- SCA Health and Welfare Fringe: $4.23/hr paid toward employee-only medical insurance. Any remainder will be paid in cash in a bi-weekly paycheck.

- $15/week transportation stipend
