Compensation: $17/hr

Overview:
The Recreation Assistant will provide the Recreation Coordinator with operational support for activities, events, and trips for the Manhattan & Downtown Brooklyn ADHC locations. This position requires strong and effective communication skills, both verbally and written. As a Recreation Assistant you will interact with a range of people in various levels of management within Housing Works and with outside vendors; a personable, collaborative, and proactive attitude is needed to maintain these professional relationships. In addition, the ability to creatively solve problems that may arise is an essential tool for this role. Housing Works graduates of Ready for Work Program and NYS AI Peer Certification highly encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the daily operations of on and off-site activity and event coordination.
  • Assist in general logistics for events & participant sign-up forms and event attendance sheets.
  • Create and disseminate monthly calendars, flyers, and event updates to clients and staff, both physically printed and through the internal, electronic messaging system.
  • Support clients in navigating monthly event sign-up forms and processes as needed.
  • Purchase recreational materials as needed.
  • Oversee activities as needed.
  • Support team with outreach to ADHC clients as needed to increase programming engagement.

Minimum Requirements
  • High School Diploma or at least 1-2 years of administrative experience
  • Bi-lingual Spanish/English speaker preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Open to learn new forms of technology and electronic systems as needed (i.e., support in creating promotional material or implementing an event sign-up form through online applications).
  • Working collaboratively and cohesively in a team environment is critical to this role.
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task.
  • Ability to attend and support with weekend events (with advanced notice).
