The Patient Account / Medical Billing Specialist is a dynamic, fully-remote role that support the mission of Rady Children's by making sure the bills are paid and services can keep moving!

The Medical Billing Specialist follows Federal, State, and local regulatory collection guidelines as well as payor specific billing/collection guidelines for the collection of outstanding balances from all Commercial HMO, PPO, Medi-Cal, and Managed Care payors professional claims. They:

• Are responsible for providing information and documentation to ensure timely and accurate reimbursement.

• Manage and assemble all data and documents for accurate follow-up of claims.

• Perform complicated calculations to adjudicate accounts appropriately.

• Review remittance codes from EOB's & R/A's to ensure payment or to identify denials or non-payment.

• Follow-up with payor on the routing of claims.

Skills Required:

• Experience and knowledge of how to bill, history of being able to follow-up and appeal a claim, and respond to insurance companies

• Knowledge of coding systems (CPT/ICD-10)

• Professional fee billing experience, physician billing, multi-specialty billing

• Great communicators

• Attention to detail

• Learners with a growth mindset that are open to cross-training in other specialties

Minimum Qualifications:

• High School Diploma, GED, or Equivalent

• Completion of a medical billing program, or 1 to 2 years of experience

• Previous medical billing experience

The expected hiring range for this position is $22.00 to $30.26.
