Job Summary:
Addresses the psychosocial, physical and general aspects of patient care. Provides indirect patient care in the cardiac, medical surgical and ER setting and other areas as assigned. Provides indirect patient care to neonate through geriatric patient age groups. Ability to assist in ER/inpatient unit with direction from RN or MD.
Minimum Qualifications, Education and Experience:
High school diploma required. PCT I requires CNA certificate.
PCT II requires MA, EMT-B, or EMT-I.
PCT III requires EMT-P.
1 (one) year experience in an acute care facility preferred.
Telemetry knowledge and critical care experience preferred.
Current BLS required.
CNA, MA, or EMT-B, I, P certification required.
ACLS and PALS preferred within first 90 days of employment for EMT-P status.
Who you will be reporting to:
Staff RN, Charge Nurse, House Supervisor, Director of Clinical Services
What you will do (Roles and Responsibilities):
- Provides indirect patient care and obtains blood pressure, pulse oximetery, temperature, heart rate, respirations and weight accurately.
- Relays any abnormal or unusual vital signs or occurrences in a timely manner.
- Performs and accurately documents assigned delegated patient care duties.
- Prepares medical records for new admission and discharged patients.
- Enters and verifies orders accurately and in a timely manner. Registers ER patients as needed.
- Updates patient Kardex daily. Maintains unit logs. (i.e. glucometer QC and docking, refrigerator, etc.)
- Identifies communication and cultural needs of the patient and utilizes resources to ensure appropriate delivery of patient care.
- Corrects and/or reports all unsafe environmental conditions and failures and demonstrates responsibility to the overall safety of the work area.
- Participates in unit activities, attends scheduled meetings/in-services.
- Complete all mandatory education programs.
- Carries out patient care assignments delegated by RN.
- Other duties as assigned.
