Job Title: Payments, Solutions Engineer
Job Summary:
This role involves working with various internal and external clients to understand the business problems and product roadmap opportunities RevSpring is looking to solve and translating these into technical requirements delivered to the development teams in order to implement.
The solutions engineer provides solutions to hardware/software problems. It’s a highly technical position that often involves thinking as a software developer to see development lifecycles through. In this role, you usually work as part of a team to provide support for both the business and customers. Part of your job duties can involve developing technical requirements documentation and advanced technical support. You must be able to think on your feet and have advanced knowledge of hardware and software limitations, environment configurations and specifications to succeed in this position.
RevSpring supports multiple payment processing solutions, both third party and through its own acquiring models, and interfaces with a wide array of payment devices, gateways, acquiring banks, and third-party solution providers to facilitate billions of dollars of payments annually. This role will require you to develop an in depth understanding of these evolving payment specifications, hardware certification requirements to processor front-ends, interactions to our software applications, and to simplify them for use by our developers for integration to our products. You will serve as a payments hardware and solution technical expert, and develop relationships with technical counterparts within the processing partners that we work with and serve as a connection point between RevSpring and its partners.
We develop products in an agile manner, and you will be responsible for working with Product Owners to provide feedback, technical information, hardware certification and QA / client configuration support, and solution proposals for the product development teams.

Essential Functions:
  • Have a central focus on payment device/hardware transaction certification requirements and developments among software, device, gateways, and processor front-ends with expertise in areas that include Level II/III processing, HSA/FSA card processing, device level encryption/decryption, P2PE validated solutions, key encryption processes and Data Encryption / PIN Encryption Keys, and hardware configuration setups
  • Understand and deliver requirements and support associated with transaction message specs to qualify at optimal interchange and other processing expenses, including but not limited to tokenization and gateways for Card Present and Card Not Present processing
  • Help to define product requirements, including the articulation of very clear, thorough and detailed user stories for complex features and product sets
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to build secure, reliable and scalable payment processing platforms, including QA and testing support, as well as client specific configuration support
  • Ensure product vision and requirements are designed with long-term vision in mind
  • Analyze existing product offering, both payment hardware and gateways, and provide recommendations for improvement
  • Engage in client level payment issues and work with the appropriate teams to resolve on both internal processing and third-party solutions
  • Offer support to complex sales engagements to consult and solution the best integration path in support of business objectives
  • Provide support and oversight with third party providers of hardware key injection, device fulfillment, testing, and client installations
  • Keep up to date with the latest trends, rules, and regulations (bankcard networks, PCI, NACHA, etc.) for the payments industry and introduce them when appropriate
  • Provide feedback on cost impact for payment processing features

  • Strong knowledge and experience in payment device/hardware certification, message specs and processing requirements, QA testing and support to ensure optimal Card Present from the hardware to the gateway to processor front ends
  • Strong knowledge of the payments industry, with firsthand experience working with acquiring platforms, gateways, and card acceptance devices
  • Experience with merchant acquiring, in particular exposure to and knowledge of authorization and/or clearing transactional flows
  • Rudimentary understanding of processing impacts to interchange programs, card brand assessments, and penalties
  • Working knowledge of ecommerce and/or consumer bill-pay payment solutions
  • Ability to decipher/read technical specifications from payment networks and processing partners.
  • Previous ISV experience, with exposure to payment devices, gateways, and software applications to multiple acquirer front-end platforms
  • Familiarity with Onguard, TDES, DKUPT, Tri-POS front-ends, and MCC codes and impacts, specifically within Healthcare, retail, and services is preferred
  • Experience with or strong knowledge of merchant servicing functions, such as funding, billing, and risk monitoring
  • Working knowledge of ACH processing, including SEC codes, NACHA regulations, and clearing formats
  • Knowledge of PCI DSS Level 1 and 2 requirements
Education: Bachelors degree (MIS, MBA preferred)
Experience: Minimum 5 years direct experience in payments in a capacity similar to the job, with the ability to travel up to 25%
