Job Description:
PD Systems is seeking a Payroll Specialist to join its team of qualified, diverse professionals. The successful applicant will become part of PD Systems’ Corporate staff based in Springfield, VA.
The successful candidate will be highly motivated, with previous experience with Government Contracting, a strong technical payroll (with additional accounting background a plus), and the ability to collaborate both within their team as well as with other corporate and division staff on payroll functions. Previous government contracting and job costing experience is a plus, as well as a working knowledge of JAMIS Financials. This position reports to the Director of Accounting.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Perform all activities necessary to process full cycle payroll in a timely manner.
- Responsible to maintain accurate payroll records and processes routine changes to employee records including accruals and termination payouts calculations.
- Responsible for payroll tax activities, including compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and periodic review of local, state, and federal regulations.
- Review and reconcile local, state, and federal payroll tax returns.
- Reconcile payroll related accounts within the JAMIS accounting system after each cycle.
- Reconcile all payroll related bank statements.
- Assist in completing accounting functions associated with other monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting requirements.
- Work on various special projects.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting preferred.
- Government Accounting experience preferred.
- 2-3 years of payroll experience (additional accounting experience is a plus).
Technical Skills:
- Strong technical accounting background preferred.
- Proficiency with job costing accounting software, JAMIS is a plus.
- Advanced Excel and database skills.
Personal Skills:
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills with all levels of employees.
- Self-starter who can work proficiently both independently and on a team.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong experience in meeting deadlines with strong attention to detail.
- Strong time management, organization, and multi-tasking skills.
- Ability to handle confidential information discreetly and professionally.
