Urgent Response Peer Support Counselor

One (1) FT 40hrs Non-Exempt $17.85 per hour.

Pay differentials offered - must qualifying through testing or verification for the following special competencies.

• Language Translation - Bi-cultural Spanish ($1.00 per hour)

• Bimodal Bilingualism - ASL Sign Language - Interpret from American Sign Language (ASL) to English, and English to ASL. ($1.00 per hour)

Under general supervision, the Urgent Response Peer Support will work within a team to respond to phone-based, and in-person mobile response services. The Urgent Response Peer Support will be responsible for engaging current and former foster children and youth up to twenty-one (21) years of age in de-escalation and stabilization services, and in-home trauma-informed culturally and linguistically appropriate family support services. Must be able to work a flexible schedule when needed. Must be willing to work as part of a team to problem solve individual and/or family challenges, developing a plan of action, and responds as needed. Staff will be required to have specialized understandings (training available) of, PRO-ACT crisis communication, and debriefing strategies.

Education and Experience: Must be able to work in an environment where children are present and active, both physically and verbally. High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required and related experience or training equivalency.

Driving is a requirement of this position.

Must have current auto insurance, valid CA driver’s license, no more than 2 points on driver record.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: This position may work within ALL other agency programs, consistent with their scope of practice, on a as needed basis. In addition, may require occasional flexible work schedule to meet the individualized needs of each client.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: CA Driver's License, Current Auto Insurance, Clean DMV Printout, clear background check w/DOJ, CAC, FBI, CPR and First Aid Certified. TB Test and Physical at the time of employment.
