This is a position for Pharmacists to work at Albuquerque Indian Health Center, 801 Vassar Drive NE, Albuquerque, NM 87106
About:
The pharmacist will be required to rotate call with other pharmacists with the infrequent possibility of needing to return to the pharmacy nights, weekends, and holidays for limited services to include, but not limited to, drug information, review and processing of inpatient orders, preparation of IV admixtures, and Pyxis replenishment.
Job Duties:
-Pharmacist shall provide outpatient and inpatient pharmacy services to patients ranging from neonate to geriatric.
-Pharmacist will perform work in the following work areas as directed, screening patient electronic health record for appropriateness of the medication order or refill, verifying that patient prescriptions are accurately filled and the directions for use are clear, counseling patients to ensure proper use of the medication.
-Pharmacist will perform the above duties in the outpatient and inpatient pharmacy.
-Pharmacist order screening duties will include a thorough review the patient’s electronic health record to verify the appropriateness of therapy. The following screening duties list is not exhaustive, but rather constitutes the minimum expectation: appropriate dose for the condition, weight, age, and renal/hepatic function of the individual patient, appropriate medication for condition, monitoring for drug-drug or drug-disease interactions, and verification that day supply matches what is ordered.
-Pharmacist verifies that the prescription was filled with the correct medication and that the directions are clear and easy to understand.
-Pharmacist counsels patients on the appropriate and safe use of their medications. Prior to calling the patient, the pharmacist performs a quick rescreen of the order versus the patients’ chart. During consultation, when appropriate, the pharmacist uses open ended questions to assess the patients understanding of what they are taking, how they are to take it and what they should expect while taking the medication. The pharmacist documents any pertinent counseling details.
-Pharmacist documents their work appropriately in electronic health record.
-Pharmacist has current BLS certificate. Advance Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and/or Pediatric Advance Life Support (PALS) are preferred. Pharmacist may need to attend and provide services for Code Blue.
-Pharmacist will need to refill Pyxis when a pharmacy technician is not available and/or after hours when called back.
-Pharmacist is able to work with multicultural patients.
-Pharmacist performs other duties as assigned.
-Pharmacist must have professional liability insurance.
-Pharmacist shall possess a current valid, unrestricted pharmacy license in a state, the District of, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a Territory of the United States.
-Pharmacist shall possess a valid state driver’s license
-Pharmacist shall provide all requested information necessary to perform Level I as well as Level II background checks. The Pharmacist shall comply with the requirements to obtain security investigations. The Pharmacist shall comply with the Albuquerque Indian Health Center to ensure completion of the pre-employment screening process including all appropriate questionnaires and forms.
-Pharmacist shall be able to work independently, opening and closing pharmacy when needed.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Active Pharmacist license
- Current basic life certification
- Advance Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and/or Pediatric Advance Life Support (PALS) are preferred
Graduate: from a Pharmacist Educational program, accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) or its predecessors, at a college, university, or educational institution that is accredited by an accrediting body or organization recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained.
License: must possess and maintain a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a Pharmacist from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.

Pay: $140,000.00 - $150,000.00 per year
