Photography Research Specialist

Imagn Content Services is the digital media agency division of Gannett, compromising of USA TODAY Network and USA TODAY Sports Images.

Imagn is seeking a results-driven and goal-oriented individual for the role of Photography Research Specialist.

Reporting to the Director, Content, this position will help grow the agency business by supporting our sales and licensing team in fulfilling short and long-term photography and video licensing requests.

The candidate will help establish and maintain relationships with editors at other Gannett properties, as well as establish contacts in local communities, to source and confirm ownership of physical and digital assets.

Ideal candidates must have experience working at a newspaper, wire service, or similar organization as a photography researcher, archivist, or data/digital asset manager. Candidates must also possess an expert knowledge of Photoshop, Photo Mechanic, and industry standard content management systems.

Responsibilities:
  • Fulfill requests from our sales team in a timely matter.
  • Confirm ownership of requested assets.
  • Work in multiple digital databases to obtain requested assets.
  • Communicate with network properties to fulfill physical archive requests.
  • Research databases such as newspapers.com/newsbank.com.
  • Create photo light boxes and galleries for client distribution.
  • Process metadata in Photo Mechanic and upload assets to Imagn.com.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's or master’s degree in communications, journalism, marketing or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 3-5 years prior experience as a photography researcher, archivist, digital asset manager, and/or photo editor.
  • Highly effective cross-functional team management and communication skills.
  • Strong ability to assess priorities, multi-task, and work with remote teams.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with firm deadlines.Employment is contingent on passing a pre-employment, post-offer background check.

The annualized base salary for this role will range between $51,300.00 and $120,750.00. Variable compensation is not reflected in these figures and based on the role, may be applicable. Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, location, and union representation, if applicable.
