Apogee Solutions, a Woman Owned Small Business, is seeking a Military Planner to support Future Joint Force Development in Suffolk, VA. Qualified candidates must have a Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility.
The Military Planner will focus on operations and force assessment in support of Joint warfighting and military capability development for the Joint Staff, multiple Combatant Commands, Services, and coalition partners. The Joint Forces Command is the only combatant command focused on the transformation of U.S. military capabilities and is responsible for Joint concept development and experimentation, Joint interoperability and integration, and Joint training.
The Military Planner will:
- Perform operations and force assessment analysis supporting the effectiveness, viability, and robustness of emergent Joint concepts, capabilities, and requirements focused on the INDOPACOM Area of Operations.
- Participate in workgroups, exercises, experiments, and wargames to integrate Joint concepts, capabilities, and requirements.
- Support OPLAN development, including using constructed scenarios and vignettes, data collection, data reduction, and analysis, and prepare reports and briefing materials.
- Provide briefings at planning conferences of various sizes and culminate findings in clear succinct reporting that will be actionable to managers and fellow planners.
- Assist with the development of campaign plans and supporting briefs and analyses by performing research, course of action analysis, and coordination among key internal and external stakeholders.
- Develop key insights and implementations in the form of written reports and summary presentations.
- Respond accurately and quickly to internal and external staff tasking, develop and coordinate detailed staff packages, develop concise reports for briefings, and deliver them to senior DoD leaders.
Required Experience:
- Active DOD Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility
- Operational and staff experience solving complex warfighting problems in the INDOPACOM Area of Operations
- Experience with planning, executing, and facilitating exercises, wargames, and experiments, as a team lead identifying requirements, developing concepts, and evaluating capabilities
- Graduate of Command & Staff College required, War College graduate highly preferred
- At least 15 years of experience supporting Military organizations with a minimum of 3 years’ experience performing military planning in a Combatant Command headquarters or the Joint Staff
- Working knowledge of the Joint Staff and Combatant Command processes and procedures
- Knowledge of Joint concepts, including concept framework, DoD transformation, and computer operations and associated software, including Microsoft Windows and Office suite
