- Education Required: Certified Electrician/Instrumentation Technician, Maintenance Technician, or Electrical/Instrumentation Engineering Technologist
- Years’ Experience Required: Years of Experience Required: 4-7 years of controls and PLC experience.
Requirements:
- Education: Training beyond high school including either an Associate (A.S.) degree in Electronics Technology (or closely related technical field), or a combination of education and experience which may include skilled trades programs or military training.
- Years of Experience Required: 4-7 years of electrical maintenance experience. Sawmill or wood products experience preferred.
- Experience: 4+ years of automation experience and/or industrial maintenance experience.
· Computer Skills: Standard computer skills; must have strong skills in document organization, the use of technical materials, and research techniques.
· Electronic Work Order System utilization is an asset.
· Ability to prioritize tasks to consistently meet deadlines.
· Communication Skills: Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing with all team members.
- Special Skills: Must possess the ability to function effectively in a team environment and interact productively with all levels of management and operations personnel; critical thinking and problem-solving skills; with strong interpersonal skills.
Responsibilities:
- General diagnostic and programming of PLC’s; Understand PLC operations.
- Install and maintain electrical control systems.
- Identify and resolve equipment malfunctions, working with manufacturers and field representatives as necessary.
- Collaborate with other departments to identify, define, and solve problems.
- Employee must perform safe and timely repairs to plant equipment in areas of electrical and instrument maintenance.
- Dismantle, adjusts, repairs, and assembles equipment according to layout plans, blueprints, operating or repair manual, rough sketches or drawings.
- Uses test and diagnostic equipment to perform checkouts.
- Move or assist in the movement and installation of equipment.
- May be required to source equipment parts.
- Commitment to top performance in a safe work environment is necessary.
- Ensure productivity, housekeeping and quality of work standards are maintained within the PLC Technician’s scope of responsibility.
