Nature of Work
Assemble, install, & repair pipes, fittings & fixtures of heating, water & drainage systems, according to specifications & plumbing codes.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Read & interpret plans, blueprints, & sketches; construct, lay out, or plan piping assemblies with respect to walls, structures, & other obstructions, allowing for expansion & contraction & alignment in accordance with city, state, & federal plumbing codes
• Construct various types of pipe joints for high or low-pressure systems, including threading, brazing, soldering, welding, or lead-wiping of joints
• Cut, fit, fabricate, & assemble a wide variety of articles, materials, & devices, including steel, copper, brass, glass, plastic, cast iron, corrosion-resistant pipe, tile, & concrete
• Install fittings, boilers, hangers, anchors, fixtures, & guides
• Coordinate, supervise, & train all direct reports to achieve project objectives
• Work with operations or project manager to assure work is consistent with estimates, procedures, dimensional control, equipment & manpower; keep them properly updated on progress schedules; & schedule delivery of materials & equipment
• Ensure accurate records on material & labor used
• Ensure all onsite personnel comply with project procedures, safety program requirements, work rules, etc. Document all violations, notify project management & safety officer, & recommend/implement corrective actions, as required
• Exercise initiative or, as directed, perform additional duties to meet the needs of the organization

Supervisory Responsibilities
Directly supervises one to three employees & carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies & applicable laws.

Education
High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED)

Certifications & Licenses
Journeyman Pipefitter/Plumber License or the ability to obtain

Experience
Five to seven years or more of related work experience required.

Physical Demands
The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: significant lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; significant climbing & balancing; significant stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 15% sitting, 30% walking, and 55% standing.
