Job Summary: The main responsibility of the person in this position is to provide timely and accurate pre-authorizations and prepayments to ensure payment for services provided by Casper Orthopedics.

Key Responsibilities:

1. To keep current with authorization requirements for insurers to efficiently provide the required information to the insurance company for timely authorization.

2. Counsel patients on financial obligations and secure deductibles and co-insurance payments on elective services.

3. Effectively communicate issues regarding insurance denials or delays to the patient, MRI scheduler and the clinical teams, both in both verbal and written formats.

4. Keep detailed documentation in the patient chart regarding the eligibility and preauthorization process.

5. Ability to multitask, organize, and prioritize a list of assignments independently in a fast pace environment.

6. Strictly follow HIPPA guidelines and on all personal health information sent out of a patient chart.

7. Must be able to Job Share and effectively work with other team members to do what is best for the patient.

Qualifications and Experience Requirements:

- At least a high school diploma or equivalent.

- Minimum of 1 year experience in the medical field.

- Previous experience communicating with insurance companies via phone and online portals.

- Basic knowledge of insurance benefits and how they apply to what the patient payment responsibility will be.

- Basic knowledge of registration information, the ability to read an insurance card and a patient account including charges and payments.

- Knowledge of basic insurance contracting and allowable charges, and coordination of benefits when the patient has more than one payer.

- Understanding of basic medical and insurance terminology.

- Basic knowledge of CPT and ICD-10 and how they apply to preauthorization.

- Ability to communicate effectively (both in written and verbal form) is essential.

- Proficiency with basic computer programs including but not limited to Microsoft Office Suite.

- A sense of urgency and a commitment to timely completion of tasks with attention to detail along with a commitment to quality.

- Motivation to pick up additional tasks if workload is low.
