Position Summary:

Open Door has partnered with CHCANYS in seeking AmeriCorps Members for its 2022-2023 Public Health AmeriCorps program. CHCANYS Public Health AmeriCorps at Open Door members receive a Living Allowance of $26,000, in addition to other benefits including transportation expenses and health insurance. Members also receive extensive Public Health training and professional development and an Education Award of $6,495 at the successful completion of their term.

The Pre-natal Program Coordinator will provide support and coordinate programs that have a direct effect on the well-being and health of babies within our communities. Ensure that patients with young children are provided with the baby essentials and resources to improve the lives of their children and families. Candidates will work directly with patients coordinating external patient programs. This is a great opportunity for someone to join a small, supportive, and collaborative team. Programs include:

  • Baby Bundle - supplies newborn essentials and resources to Open Door pre-natal patients
  • Baby Bank - a grant program that provides necessities for newborns through 2 years of age to our most vulnerable new mothers for six months
  • Diaper Depot - distributes emergency diapers and clothing to families


Responsibilities:

  • Scheduling patient distributions
  • Assemble and Distribute Baby Bundles
  • Document patient phone calls and distributions in an electronic medical record
  • Organize and maintain in-kind donation inventory
  • Track monthly data
  • Collect patient qualitative data and testimonials
  • Identify current patient needs and research community resources for low-income families
  • Fulfill emergency diaper & clothing requests
  • Additional responsibilities: Holiday Toy Distribution, Assist in Volunteer Management, Emergency Food Program, Book, and Baby Essential Drives


Qualifications

  • Bilingual/ Spanish
  • Computer literate: ability to learn new software programs
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Thoroughness/Attention to Detail
  • Communicates effectively and clearly with patients and team members
  • Strong team player and the ability to work independently
  • Flexible and self-motivated
