Stitchin' Heaven is looking for someone who is both mathematically skilled and creatively talented to join our Product Development Team.

Our Pre-production Specialist is very detail oriented and has a good grasp on mathematical calculations. The Pre-Production Specialist prepares all calculations and paperwork necessary for our Production Team to produce Block of the Month (BOM) programs as well as quilt kits for events and e-commerce.

This individual will be keenly aware of the processes within the Product Development Department for preparing programs and products for retail production and knows every aspect of the operations needed to deliver 100% customer satisfaction.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • This description describes the general nature and level of work performed by the individual assigned to this job. It does not include all duties, responsibilities, and qualifications.
  • Read and dissect quilt patterns to divide into monthly BOM sections
  • Create graphics for cut layouts for each monthly section of BOM programs
  • Use MS Excel to calculate fabric requirements and create cut sheets for BOM program and quilt kit production cutters
  • Research, select, and order fabrics for quilt kits
  • Communicate with outside quilt designers and teachers to develop quilt kits for events/classes
  • Collaborate as a member of the Product Development team to develop creative and innovative products and programs
  • Assist with development of kits for high profile special events and promotions

Qualifications for the Job

  • Mathematically inclined – will calculate fabric requirements for kits and block of the month
  • Existing working knowledge of Excel/spreadsheet-based software
  • General computer skills – Microsoft Office, Email, POS systems, internet research, copier/printing, graphic/illustration software is a plus
  • General principles of design – Understands basic color theory, scale, value, genres and can apply to fabric selection
  • Organizational skills – will have a variety of tasks, many are time sensitive
  • Can follow written instructions – will dissect patterns to determine fabric cutting requirements, a test pattern will be part of the interview process
  • Attention to detail – BOM programs and quilt kits vary greatly, attention to detail is essential for accuracy and positive customer experience
  • Collaborative team player - Will work with Product Development as a team and will also work with Travel and Production teams.
  • Color perception – Must be able to visually perceive color accurately

Additional Desirable Skills - Will train the right candidate with the above underlying skills. The following skills are a bonus:

  • Quilter
  • Illustrator, Canva, and/or Photoshop
  • Quilt pattern reading and/or writing
  • Electric Quilt 8 Software
