Prepress Technician Job at Sandy Alexander
The Prepress Technician processes customer-supplied electronic files, preparing them for print production.
Responsibilities:
- Review electronic job ticket for verification of job requirements (i.e.: printing method; stock; colors; finishing).
- Using electronic page layout software (desktop publishing software) manipulate the format of the print job to the dimensions of the paper or substrate.
- Determine page layout, accounting for folds, trims, bleeds and gripper, and add crop marks and color bars as necessary.
- Identify missing or problematic components and communicate them to the Production Coordinator, customer, and production personnel.
- Pre-flights customer files and makes file corrections as requested.
- Load customer-supplied electronic files for output, onto the Pre-Press file server.
- Create an electronic image of the pages to create manufacturing proofs used by the Press and Bind operators during the manufacturing process. May prepare color proofs for customer review.
- Perform basic RIP maintenance (i.e., file archiving and cleanup, activate and manage fonts, reboot and refresh.)
- Properly record all time and materials in the MIS system.
- Maintain a neat and safe working environment in the pre-press department
- Adhere to Sandy Alexander's quality and environmental policies, procedures, goals, and objectives and comply with all safety and work rules when performing duties.
- Complete and maintain all required checklists, paperwork, records, documents, etc., and maintain departmental housekeeping standards.
