Principal Accessibility Official Job at Metropolitan Transportation Authority
This position is eligible for telework which is currently one day per week. New hires are eligible to apply 30 days after their effective date of hire.
The Principal Accessibility Official has a significant level of authority for the decision-making, staffing, and budget for their functional area of responsibility, subject to approval regarding the most significant business and policy issues by Senior Management. Decision-making authority is somewhat defined as the freedom to determine how to accomplish work goals. Substantially diversified procedures and technical standards guide the Principal Accessibility Official. Makes recommendations for policy and procedural changes with final approval from departmental management and supports the implementation of such changes. Provides input into overall strategy and approach in consultation with departmental management and/or CD Delivery Senior Management.
Understands all aspects of Accessibility, the responsibilities of MTA C&D as a regulator, and the integration of such into the project lifecycle.
Recommends and approves staffing and consulting needs.
Be organized to provide the status of Accessibility activities through metric-based deliverables effectively.
Can prioritize business needs across multiple business units within MTA C&D.
Can effectively develop and recommend process changes based on different project delivery methods.
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or a related field.
Must have a minimum of fourteen (14) years of related experience.
Must have a minimum of eight (8) years in a managerial or supervisory role and/or project manager role in a large, multi-faceted organization.
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Licensed Professional Engineer or Registered Architect desirable.
Demonstrated experience with major construction projects with highly complex systems preferred.
Must be an ICC Accessibility Inspector/Plans Examiner or equivalent within 18 months of hire
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Demonstrated ability to build relationships and work collaboratively with stakeholders at all internal levels within the organization.
Demonstrated ability to work in a high-profile, high-pressure environment effectively.
Must have focus and ability to deliver results, organizational effectiveness, and continuous improvement.
Must be a proven leader as a change agent and creative/innovative thinker with the ability to align business goals with solutions to drive process improvements.
Must possess excellent team-building, listening, problem-solving, and prioritization skills.
As an MTA Construction & Development employee, you may be required to complete the New York State financial disclosure statement – annually if your position earns $105,472 (this figure is subject to change) per year if the position is designated as a policymaker.
