A Day in the Life

At Medtronic the Principal Contract Analyst has responsibility for working with the Neuroscience Enterprise Accounts organization to develop and implement regional and local based contracts that support Medtronic Neuroscience business strategies and objectives. The primary responsibility will be to work with the Neuroscience Enterprise Accounts Sr Managing Directors and their direct reports to develop strategies and tactics that support revenue and market share growth in regional IDNs, and to conduct other financial and operational analysis to support contracting strategies as needed.

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

  • Act as a liaison between the Enterprise Accounts organization and Operating Units to develop and implement regional contract strategies for Integrated Delivery Networks (IDN) that are consistent with the US Market objectives and support the Enterprise Accounts sales strategies.
  • Provide comprehensive business reviews, enable programs and contracts to drive revenue, monitoring pricing integrity and protecting margin will be key responsibilities.
  • Execute and monitor negotiated contracts from implementation to expiration to ensure accurate invoicing.
  • Support Customer Care, Credit Financial Services and other organizations to resolve pricing discrepancies and other related issues.
  • Support the contracting needs of the Enterprise Accounts assigned region. This includes executing on pricing strategies, strategy development in response to customer pricing requests and complying with the price governance process. Complete hospital requests in a timely manner in accordance with Medtronic pricing strategies, terms, and conditions.
  • Provide robust and accurate pricing analysis. Negotiate pricing under parameters as set forth by management in conjunction with Sales, Legal and Marketing. Provide rationale behind pricing approvals to help facilitate positive outcomes in pricing discussions.
  • Develop insights based on contract performance to drive continued performance or needed changes. Review quarterly with appropriate stakeholders. Participate in cross-functional teams to develop strategy and tactics for key business initiatives across different functional areas.
Must Have: Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelors degree and 7+ years contracts, pricing, sales operations or finance/business analytics

OR

  • Masters degree and 5+ years contracts, pricing, sales operations or finance/business analytics

Nice to Have
  • Experience presenting to upper-level management and sales leaders
  • Confident in driving contracts and pricing strategy and able to influence key stakeholders to help drive negotiations toward a favorable outcome
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Excel Spreadsheets, Business Objects, and SAP.
  • Experience creating Excel documents, including spreadsheets, formulas, charts, graphs, and functions.
  • Additional experience in sales, marketing, purchasing, healthcare or related areas desirable.
  • Knowledge of contract law.
  • Ability to work in fast paced environment with high attention to detail.
  • Strong relationship building, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability to operate in a matrixed marketing environment and work effectively with sales, sales
  • Proven ability to build and facilitate strong, productive working relationships with a wide variety of cross‐functional teams and customer contacts.
  • Ability to identify, analyze, and solve problems with minimal direction and make decisions with confidence.
