Summary:

Develops and tests process standards, tooling and equipment by performing the following duties. To be an effective Process Engineer, one must be aware of company policies and procedures for performance. One must also be familiar with the department equipment, personnel and be aware of quality criteria.

Responsibilities:

  • Reviews processing problems and new project blueprints at company and at customer locations to ascertain the nature of technical problems and provide possible solutions such as part redesign substitution of material or process changes.
  • Works with Product Engineers to make drawings for parts fabricated by company Tool & Die Shop or outside vendor.
  • Devises and assembles new or modified mechanical components and assemblies for processing machinery.
  • Sets up and conducts samples under operational conditions to investigate design proposals for improving equipment performance or other factors, or to obtain data for development, standardization and quality control.
  • Analyzes indicated and calculated test results in relation to design or rated specifications and test objectives and modifies or adjusts process to meet specifications.
  • Confers with production personnel to implement operating procedures and process guidelines.
  • Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Write routing reports and correspondence. Speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
  • Work with concepts such as probability and statistical inference, fundamentals of plane and solid geometry, algebra, trigonometry, out-put cycles and square surface areas.
  • Define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Knowledge in the design, construction and sourcing of molds and related tooling.
  • Knowledge in all aspects of plastic material selection and processing in a blow molding environment.
  • Knowledge of product design utilizing a CAD system.
  • Computer skills – ability to use Windows-based software packages.
  • May be required to perform other duties as requested, directed or assigned.
